the aussie cool/tool number plate thread

Mnnn, the plastic "3" on the new bmw seems a bit suss. I reckon it would be maybe a custom ordered plate and made to look like the historic. You see that sorta stuff a bit, for those that cant afford the proper historic ones. Lots of Japanese owners also opt to get custom plates such as "888" that I saw on a m3 recently. Apparently that number means 'filthy rich'. As far as the proper historic plate "3" I saw, Im not sure of their name or if they are well known in SA. I wouldnt think so though, the person on the end of the phone sounded very very old. Also by the state of the car it was on being a falling apart 80's BMW, I wouldnt think so. I definately thought it was worth a shot trying to buy this plate, but no luck so far. I until recently had the personalised plates "turbo-1", they have now found a new home & I was able to sell them on.

Cool numbers alright.

 

I don't think you can order just a number on a custom plate in SA, can you? This is to avoid confusion between custom and historic/alphanumeric. I've tried to get just a number and been knocked back.

Close - it is the Chinese that go ape over the plates with lots of 8's. Asians are always pointing at my plate.

Very very old but not too old to text you back? That sounds unusual too.

 

nope. i've spent a bit of time trying out lots of combos on the website.

 

I see more Audi's and BMW's with modified plates to make O's look like 0.

We have lucky 7 they use 8.

And 4 means death, soo alot of buildings built with Chinese companies with skip the no4 be it apartment 4 or level4...

well looky what i came across on Hutt St tonight....

and then 2 minutes later a 5 series beamer went by with plates [ BMW-888 ]. hopefully all these 8s i'm seeing means some asians are going to give me lots of money...
