To test drive a "red" NASCAR Dodge at any time Michael wishes to try, promising that it will be a very good fast car.

Schumacher in NASCAR...

I don't think his "run the competition off the road" strategy will be be received the same way it was as in F1. The good ol' boys in NASCAR have a way of dealing with drivers like that...

 

Of course you are not forgetting that Senna was even more blatant than Michael at this (remember Japan in 1990?)

But this is about Schumacher and NASCAR. Not about Schumacher cheating and certainly not about Senna.

 

Would Schumi drive in a venue that features "restricter plates" which reduce the hp about 300 ponies? I doubt it.

Redneck Racing is really about the wrecks, not the racing. Kind of "demolition derby" around 200 mph. At least in demolition derby they turn right and back up. In NASCAR it's left, left, left, crash... until the end of the "race." Maybe NASCAR should change the track shape to a figure 8 instead of an oval. Would be lots more interesting IMHO.

Perhaps I am being too hash. I lost interest when they stopped running cars that you could buy and drive on the street.

Look at Dale Earnheart. He wasn't called "the Intimidator" for nothing. He had a reputation of bumping people off the track his entire career. Thus, someone bumped him off the track, and he died. What goes around, comes around.

 

Guess it depends to which fan club you belong.

 

Bumping is a way of life in stock car racing, not a result of karma. No one was considered to blame for Earnhardt's accident.

And if you do wish to discuss karma, Dale Earnhardt was considered one of the most helpful drivers in the pits, loaning equipment and advise to all that asked, not to mention his charity work, all along making people promise not to ruin his Intimidator image.

If I used this philosophy, then it was karma that killed Senna for his cheating? I don't think so.

 

I don't want to start a NASCAR vs F1 thread, not intended as an insult but it is apparent you do not know much about NASCAR.

I can’t even imagine MS driving a stock car…not that it isn’t hard to win a stock car race, it’s just why would he? He retired making something like 3 million per race win or lose, why would he waste his time competing for a $50k purse in a car he has no experience with? The most likely outcome is he would lose and diminish his reputation and have no fun in the process.

Well, Montoya qualified 4th for the Daytona 500. I think it's safe to assume Michael would do the same if not better. Montoya uses Dodge btw...

I attended Frank Hawley's Drag Racing School down in Gainesville a while back and Frank talked specifically about Dale Earnhardt and his nickname.

Dale got the nickname "The Intimidator" because he was so completely calm under pre-race stress. The other drivers would get intimidated by the fact that Dale seemed so completely relaxed when everyone else was getting anxious just before the race. It had absolutely nothing to do with him bumping cars out of the way.

True story.

As an aside, Frank Hawley is a super guy, very interesting and insightful, with tons of great stories, should anyone venture down to his school.

 

I see, so thats why Senna had his entire season invalidated and all his results thrown out, after running JV off the road. Wait. That wasn't Senna that had that happen?!?

If there is anything that can be safely assumed from this entire thread, it is that there is not a snowball's chance in hell of Schumacher outperforming JPM on an oval track.

 

Exactly! MS's driving style is too precise to do well in Nascar. Montoya's throw it in sideways style is what it takes. We'll never know, but I think JPM would have been very entertaining in F1 without traction control.

 

Kimi could be very entertaining driving drunk/hung over, he could still probably do pretty well too.

 

Might be the only time I would even consider watching NASCAR or (Not A Sport, Centered Around Rednecks). Sort of reminds me of Ricky Bobby, F1 driver coming to NASCAR. I wouldn't mind Michael racing on one of the non-oval tracks, ie. Watkins Glen and seeing how he fared there.
