That engine sounds absolutely incredible. The video of it driving away literally gave me the chills!

Good luck with the book! I admire your passion!

Yes the car was designed by Marcello Gandini, and the Cizeta is closer to his first Diablo proposal.

The production Diablo was restyled in part by Chrysler, and after they restyledf his original proposal, Gandini was kindly asked to put his signature on it......

Claudio and I poured over the car at the Marconi Museum - it would NOT be cost effective to restore the car back to the V16T.

Depends. There is car in Japan for sale right now, been for sale past few years, around ~ $325k. Hasn't sold - but then again, most don't even remember the Cizeta. If taken to an auction, I bet it'd easily bring $300k. Actual worth for only 10 cars, a pain to determine.

    Second roadster on hold -

Just as a point of interest...in the summer of 2003, I bought my 1971 365 GTC/4 from Giorgio Moroder. I believe that Mr. Moroder was also involved in the Cizeta project.

He was for a period of time, but after the car went into production.

As a side note - Giorgio still has the white Cizeta prototype.

In Western Europe it was THE ultimate car when it was first displayed in the late 80´s. First 16-cylinder car after WW II.
Everyone in their 40´s and 50´s does know the Cizeta.

THE CIZTA WAS A DIRECT HIT TO THE LAMBORGHINI DIABLO. AS I REMEMBER HE DESIGNED THE LAMBORGHINI DIABLO. BUT THEN LAMBORGHINI MADE THIS GUY UPSET AND HE THEN TOOK A DIRECT HIT AND PUNCHED OUT LAMBORGHINI WITH THIS CAR.. TOTAL KNOCK OUT. I THINK IT WAS LATE 1993 OR 1995 OR SO.. AND I THINK THIS WAS THE ONLY CAR MADE BECAUSE THE GENERAL PUBLIC DID NOT KNOW WHAT IT WAS AND IT HAD NO RACE HISTORY. OR ANY HISTORY ... IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY...
COST IN 1994 OR 1995 I THINK IT WAS ABOUT $55O,OOO.00 USD ....I THINK IT WAS ALL WHEEL DRIVE BUT NOT SURE IT COULD BE RWDRIVE.. AND FROM MEMORY I THINK IT HAD ABOUT 580 BHP OR SO.. ITS BEEN A WHILE SINCE I DID ANY RESEARCH ON THIS CAR.. I AM GLAD THAT THERE STILL ARE PEOPLE OUT THERE WHOM BRING BACK MEMORIES FROM THESE TYPES OF CARS...

The only reason I know about this car is because of an article in some car magazine from the early 90s. It had a white or red Cizeta-Moroder, an F40, a Porsche of some kind, and a Diablo.

Too bad the timing was off!

P.S. IIRC, Cizeta-Moroder won a prize for the design of their logo at the time.

It wasn't that. It showed the four cars in a very green Italian villa setting.

Yes - it was in CAR magazine (and then picked up by other magazines including Sports Cars International. And it was a 959, F40, Countach (anniversary), and the Cizeta prototype.

IIRC a now famous Gordon Murray gave a rather glowing review of the Cizeta.

Great pics, amazing car, a big respect to Mr. Zampolli ! There was one Moroder in Hungary, in the early 90's, but the country's laws dont allow to make a registration book to the car, because it was too wide! Stupid Laws ! :-(
