It will be interesting to see what all the McLaren "fans" will say about this day's tests since they've been touting the Mac horn after previous tests.
Probably the same thing Ferrari "fans" said after the last one. Testing is testing, the numbers are not that relevant. I would not get worked up about any testing result, neither good nor bad.
I'm no Mac "fan", but we don't know what teams are running with...did Mac go to a full tank test after setting fast times on low fuel levels? Did Ferrari run low fuel today? As you can see, aero tweaks are already appearing on the Ferrari; there will be more in 32 days...now is the time to see what works and what doesn't so I don't worry about testing times...
Whether or not you like to pay attention to testing time I'm excited to see that for at least today we're in front. So far Massa has been about half a second or more quicker on the majority of the test days when compared to Kimi.
Good Lord, Kimi did the equivalent of TWO GP distances! Hot d@mn! We're in good shape, now. I'm really impressed with Lewis. A tenth off Alonso... That fellow has serious talent. Yeah, I know nobody can "win" testing, but it sure helps psychologically to be at the top of the sheets!
Huh? When has McLaren ever truly had an awful testing season lately (I say lately to keep the conversation relevant to this season's tests)? They looked somewhat decent last season pre-season as well, they just weren't as strong as they were in 2005 (fastest car by far), and look where that got them. Hamilton's a rookie, and you know they're good for at least 5 exploding engines over the course of a season, not to mention countless random suspension failures. In turn, this will leave Fernando crying like a ***** while he tells everyone that F1 as a sport has lost it's integrity, while in fact he's the one losing his.
anyone have a better pic of the front wing and rear wing? btws, thanx for the pics as usual Yellowbird.
So with the times and test distances today, is this Ferrari tactics? Throwing down the new "bar" and seeing who steps over it tomorrow?
I don't think so. The fact that Ferari's durability testing has been impacted so badly by the wet weather everywhere they've gone means that they're going to do marathon dry runs. The fact that they're fast on top of the durability testing being evidently successful bodes well.
Here you go Massa Kimi Kimi's car has 2 separators to keep the wing from flexing, massa's car only has 1, Kimi's wing has a much steeper element and a much larger surface area on the upper element of the rear wing. Now on the front wing, there is a sligtly larger lower element, you can see the change at the back of the lower element as well as the shape of the upper element is practicaly reversed. Kimi's car was set to much more downforce then Massa's car. It looks like the pick-up point, on the nose, of the upper wing element was raised so it now masks the higher mounted bottom wishbone (new zero-keel design). The main element looks practically unchanged. Wonder if they're going to change that. Both Renault and McLaren have gone with a more square-ish dipped "spoon" in the middle of the wing.
The fast right before the last corner. Apparently for safety concerns Also, I think the idea was that it would allow the cars to get closer through the last corner for a better chance to draft on the following straight. Image Unavailable, Please Login
