Jean Todt wasnt the Technical Director.

 

You mean replace Ross Brawn as Technical Director, don't you? Or did you mean replace Jean Todt as Team Principal?

The latter would make more sense. I know everyone here thinks Schumacher walks on water but I would expect the position of Technical Director would require an advanced degree in engineering or something along those lines. Schumacher may have been a gifted race driver but he doesn't have the technical training for a position like that. I can more readily see him in a team management type of role before I see him running an engineering, design, and research & development department.

Does Schumacher even have a high school diploma?

I would not be surprised to see Michael step up and fill Todt's shoes next season. I agree that he doesn't have the expertise to take over as technical director, and hopefully Ross Brawn is just taking a year off until he gets to have Schumi as his boss.

German Bild and Swiss Blick both speculate that MS might be groomed right now for the position of race team leader (what Jean Todt used to do). MS has been to more meetings over the winter in the factory than during his driving years.

If nothing else he is at least there to help sort out the new car as the mechanics allegedly are already complaining about Kimi's inability to give useful technical feedback.

PS: Ferrari set fastest testing times today. Kovalainen 3rd, Alonso 4th. Sounds like the prediction for the whole season ahead.

That was the knock on Kimi during his McLaren days as well.

It's great that Schumacher is still there to guide the team and provide his input, he will be an asset to the team even if he isn't behind the wheel. His tecnical input is surely invaluable to the team.

 

Gosh I loved that statement. A classic already. If I wasn't a Kimi fan before, that really gave me all the reasons I ever needed to root for the guy.

 

MS is a clever guy with a lot of polish. AS well has being extremely knowlegeable about racing (including race tactics), he could directly benefit Ferrari in mutiple ways, including PR. He obviously enjoys being at/arround Ferrari. And the Ferrari brand/image has realy benefitted by his successes.

 

This should finally put him over the $1 Billion mark. Amazing!

I wonder if any other professional athlete has made as much (in total) as Michael has. I'm sure Tiger Woods is on the way to be the all time high but he's not there yet.

 

That's a good question. I wonder how much Michael Jordan has made, granted the last part of his career with the wizards wasn't amazing, but in his hey day I'm sure he was banking what with endorsements and salaries.

 

Because Jordan is going through a Divorce, they stated he was worth around $400Mil. In his prime he was the highest paid athlete at $90Mil a year and MS was second.

 

I don't know where I read it on the Internet, but Schumi was the First athlete to earn $100 million per year. If I can find it, I'll post.
