I think the Saturn version (Sky) is better looking by a mile. Just my $.02.

Same category as a Miata - fun little car to drive - good track potential - funky look and open top... same target market.

I am sure it will be a good car but a car enthusiat does not sell his Ferrari to buy a Pontiac... it's like selling a 512 TR to buy a Subaru WRX doesn't make much sense, I must be missing something!

There is a turbo version out with around 250 hp that ought to be fun.

Geeeee....My doctor told me the same thing! I'll still shop for a 308 in the late Spring or summer. I tell ya that the Solstice is a blast to drive! I'll have to get it on a track for a day though to really see it's handling limits. The ONLY real drawback is that it's a Pontiac! I'll get the 5Yr/75K warranty, as I think I'll probably need it! The other good thing is that my local dealer is selling it at sticker, which is NOT the norm for these cars. Production is limited and all of the SF Bay Area dealers I have visited are marking them up betweek $4K-$6K!

As for the Sky, I looked at them. They are cool, but a little too much of the Vette look (for my taste). For $24K out the door, this will be a fun car!

I went from two exotics (don't ask) to a brand new sport luxury with over 300HP + handling to match a 348's envelope. Cost more than a mint 348 Spyder, too.

I had fun taking that thing to 145MPH (chip limited) on a regular basis, drifting & darting around creation... but in the end it depreciated $20,000 the first year - so I dumped it before I was at $0.

New cars are great, but make sure you get at least 1/2 their retail price in "fun factor" and good memories. Drive it like you stole it, then take it to CarMax & come back to hang with the brotherhood. ;)

Used to use the 348 daily but after a while purchased a Volvo XC90T6. The 348 now gets used about once a month (if that). If I had a more modern Ferrari with the better ground clearance and power steering (yup think I am getting old), I would probably go back to using a Ferrari as a daily runner. But until that happens, I have to admit that if I didn't have a more comfortable car for daily use I may well have gone down the route of selling the Ferrari for something softer and more practical.

By the way, before the 348 I had run a Porsche 993 Carrera 2 for over 5 years. That car was totally different. Far more practical and an absolute blast to drive at the limit, whilst feeling far more modern than the 348. The 348 was the first Ferrari I owned and there have been times that I still am not sure that the switch to the 348 was right, until I see her sitting in the garage, get in, snick the gearshift into first and roll her out, Challenge exhaust and tubi by pass singing to me...

Alot of these newer sports cars are fun S2000, 350z, etc. But I'm not going to lie, whether they're faster or not is irrelevant to me,they just don't drive the same as an Italian car, never have and probably never will.

Either way grats on the purchase Peter.
