I was able to bring a very small group to East Texas to see an amazing car collection that is about to be auctioned off in April. He has some of the rarest cars I have ever seen, and on top of that, there are boats, motorcycles, bicycles, and memoribilia everywhere you look. Here is the website for the auction.
    http://www.rmauctions.com/Default.cfm?SaleCode=GP07

Sorry I couldn't bring the whole DFW F/chat crew, but was limited to a few people.

The only bad news was my ticket I got driving my nephew's M3 back to Dallas. As we got on the highway, I gave it a blast at the worst possible time. Our group behind me was getting hits on their detectors, but unfortunatly mine was behind me in the Turbo, which by the was is for sale.
After all we had done, the ticket didn't dampen any of the fun we had.
Ended up in Longview at Johnny Cace's cajun seafood for a lively discussion of all we had seen.
Here are a few pics from the visit.

Thank you for setting up the event Phil, I had a really great time. I feel really bad about you getting popped by Texas Highway Patrol. It might be a good idea to set up some sort of emergency FChat fund if this ever happens again. I got busted last year leaving a F1 watching party by Flower Mound's finest & wound up $300+ poorer.

Phil, thanks a million for planning the event and inviting us. Ponder's estate and the treasures that lie within are beyond words.

I, too, have been popped by the po po en route to an F Chat Event, I think it was a Sunday monring Starbucks thing... And again, while testing routes for last year's spring rally. And again when driving Manny's car through Terrell. Fchatters are a bad, bad influence. ;)

I've had the pleasure of viewing this collection first hand as well. I had no idea it was going on the block. Any details?? Why is it being auctioned??

He has some of the most wonderful pieces of Ferrari memorabilia I have EVER seen!!!!

I remember the very first time I met Mr. Ponder. His S.F. Foudroyante G.P. Chronograph and S.F. Shield ring were testament for his love of the marque, not to mention the scale apartment and office oufitted with all Ferrari accoutrements straight from Italy!!!!!

For years his daily driver was a 355 F1 Spider. What a luxury!!!

I'll try to post a few of my pics when I get some time. Sadly, my camera battery was in need of fuel and I didn't get as many as I would've liked. I wish I could've spent an entire day there, I look at the pictures and realize how much I missed. My wife called as I was driving home and asked how it was. I truly didn't have the words. What an amazing lifetime of collecting.

Thanks Phil for the opportunity to see this.

My favorite was the little red MG "kit" car with the supercharged engine.

Thanks to Wayne of RUF Dallas for the thrill ride in the RT12.
He says we saw 160 mph.
I say we followed all posted speed limits.

    Dear Phil,

Thank you so much for the photos.

This collection is something very special! Seeing your photos (and not being able to touch it myself) makes me wonder if it is real at all. It seems like something you would see in a dream of a king garage.

    Thank you again for sharing.

    Sincerely

    Michael Johnson,

+1 I would have loved to drive up from Houston to see such beauties as these. Seeing modern Ferraris 360s, 430s, etc gets boring after some time. I need to see older Ferraris and other sports cars to "recharge my batteries".

Phil, thanks for planning the event. All I can say is total ocular overload. I could have spent a day in each one of the carriage houses and still would have missed some items. A truly amazing collection. Sorry about the ticket.

Talked to a local lawyer, who gave me a girl's name at the JP's office. Called her, and for the cost of the ticket, received a 30 day deferred adjutication. That is the shortest I ever heard of. Now if I can just be good for 1 month with the new beast.

RM Auctions runs a show. It appears to be a pre recorded auction run on
Tuesday at 9:00pm on the ECL channel (#208 on Direct TV)

I assume they will run the Ponder collection at some point.

A 58 TR sold on last nights show for a cool $2m
