beware of wide world of cars

i called them yesterday looking for a 99 F355 F1 spider and spoke to the sales rep named Nick. told me that he just got in one pozzi blue with light blue interior. he started giving me the story behind the car and that it was a no story car and has never had any paint work done. a perfect car.

after further digging i find out that the car was involved in an accident not more than a month ago and a new driver door and the front side panel was put in. it is amazing how an authorized ferrari dealer can be so deceiving.

 

i didnt get a good vib from those guys either. I was looking at a 348 there and it just seemed so rackety and someone pointed out that the front spoiler lip didnt look like it was OEM, and yet the car was a clean car.

 

surprising. i thought that others on "the chat" have been there and even recommended this dealer.

titanium: good luck w/ your search. make sure to post a .wmv or video of that 355 when you get it!

 

P.S. the 355 is the best car in the world EVER, even if you get it in F1, then its the 3rd best car in the world EVER

 

the car is for my wife. F1 is the only way to go

i heard that there is a black/black 99 F1 in CT up for sale private owner, anyone has any clue as to who the owner is?

 

I saw the car when it came to Miller to get appraised when I was working there this summer. The owner wanted a 430. I am sure either Werner or Steve Dailey at Miller could put you in touch as I believe they took down his contact info. I will let you know more info as I just made a call about it to someone.

 

theres a gorgeous red/tan on ebay with f1. No challenge grill or shields but its got a tubi!

I bought 2 cars from Wide World.
I had 0 problems with them. Nick sold me the 360 I am in now.+ got tubi's at wholesale through him just for purchasing my car from them.

if I was buying a car from a dealer especially a Ferrari I don't want a story car.
if he lied to you then you should go to his boss.
if it was me I would probably throw a rock through his window.

exactly, it is just unfortunate because someone who does not have the resources would fall for his BS and pay top dollar for a story car

Don't they assume someone will check the car out? Unless they are waiting for one of those wide eyed kids who dont care and just want thier first ferrari -

theres a couple nice tour de france (i think spelling?) on ebay also.

 

Pchop loves this dealer to death ...... They left him standing on the showroom floor for over an hour.

 

I have nothing but excellent things to say about the WWoC service department -- Justin and the crew (Jose in particular) have taken great care of us over the past few years. Same goes for the service guys down at FoCNJ -- top notch.

I have not, however, had any experience with the sales staff (Nick in particular) up at WWoC. There have been a few stories posted here about them, though...

 

It is possible that Nick or WWoC had no knowledge that the car was in a accident. If the car was in an accident and an insurance claim was made, it is possible to fix the car quickly, get rid of it, and still have a clean carfax. Second if the prior owner paid out of pocket, he would still have a clean carfax. Lets face it, im sure the prior owner wouldnt disclose any prior work due to the beating he would get on the trade-in.

I dont know what happened, just giving you some things to think about.

Eli... I have never had a real conversation with Nick, but he has been the subject of numerous heated threads here. Seems he is an acquired taste.
