Anyone going to Amelia Concours?
Mark, I was planning on going. But now I hear the the Ferrari Challenge weekend is not on Friday, only Saturday and Sunday, and I really do not want to miss that. I had hoped to go to the Ferrari event Friday, Amelia Saturday.
Definitley going. The concours d'elegance is on sunday. the tour or whatever and the RM auction are on saturday. Image Unavailable, Please Login
You are absolutely right, this year the concours is on Sunday. That means I can go to the Ferrari Challenge on Saturday. See you there!
the concours has always been on sunday! I will be there, but I doubt I will see you there... unless by luck/chance. lol
well, be nice to meet another ferrari owner... only way we could do that is exchange numbers or meet near the gate at a certain time. I'll be there at 9 at the latest. Hopefully way before then.
I am really considering going to this event. It would be my first time at Amelia, and I was wondering if anyone who has attended could give me their opinion. I've seen the web page, ads, etc....I just would like to hear from experience. Many thanks, Niki
If you were to subscribe to FChat, you could do a search and check out the photos from last year's event. If you can not make it to Pebble Beach, then you go to Amelia. Much less formal than Pebble, and a greater blend and broader categories of autos on display. Admission is only about $50, compared to Pebble Beach at $150+. Highly recommended.
Thank you much Ron. I was unaware that admission was so affordable. I do need to subscribe again...I'm missing out on tons of info. here. Thanks again, Niki
I've been straight since 2001, awesome show. While pebble beach is more expensive, more formal and theres more classics.... compared to amelia, less formal, i'd imagine easier picture taking (especially before 11 or 12), way more race car variety/sports car variety. Always a race car driver honored... and usually (not this year) 1 single marque honored. (as with any concours). I really highly recommend it, last year it was 40 or 45 bucks, and in years past, as low as 35 bucks! if you do go to this show, bring a camera, its mandatory... if you don't, then theres no point in going.
I will be in Spain............darn, it looks like I am missing several good events that weekend.......
Okay Ron: I talked to Gaby and here is our plan: Saturday Challenge with you knuckleheads> I don't have to work so I will be in for the viewing. Sunday morning early we will be driving with the P/U to Amelia Island. Do the show and leave early afternoon towards Maacon GA to have dinner with friends and pickup my new single car trailer Monday morning. Then head up to IKEA in Atlanta and load up and come back South Tuesday, arriving in the evening.
if you can, get to the field early sunday morning to see the cars drive up, it's really cool.. also, lets set up an f chat meet...
Also, RM vintage cars auction on Saturday, 11 AM to 5 pm..some really nice ferraris, a 365 boxer, 2 cut daytonas, a 365 gt 2/2
Last year, they did not let anyone without a press ID get in early. I arrived about 8 AM, had to wait until later to get in.
haha so did i... it sucked. I was at the beginning part of the line though. I need to take saturday off from work... about the RM auction, how much money will it cost just to go and see the cars? just to view them... but not be in the bidding?
I'll be in Daytona for the last weekend of Bike Week and will probably head up early Sunday morning on my Road King. Any other Fchatters/motorcycle enthusiasts going to be in Daytona want to cruise up together to Amelia Island on Sunday A.M.? msgsobe, I thought you were into bikes as well? Saludos
I can't remember exactly how much they were last year but the Auction catalogs are $80 dollars this year. It does admit two. You may want to also consider registering as a bidder. You would be able to move about much easier, however I wouldn't wave to anyone across the room... "is that a bid sir? Oh you were just waving to someone...well tell him about the fantastic Lamborghini you've just purchased" =)
the show itself on sunday is 40 bucks, i guess i'll have to go do what i did last year... go to the parking garage to see the RM auction cars, better than nothing.
