Have a peek at CWWHK's thread about Fcar's 60th in Tokyo. Aiya..seeing them luverlies, esp. the 599 in Rosso and the white Dino and argento F50...

And... I told my staff NOT to 'cer joo-ro' because we've to respect pigs...not eat them!!!

Not bad, except the chef was so busy that he forgot to put the sharks fin into the soup! He had to create an additional dish of sharks fin omelette instead hehe... Will make sure no similar screw-ups next Thu.

BTW Jon was there also, but at the buffet restaurant. Said 'hi' to him briefly.

    Dear Rara 355,

No disagreement there - the 308 is what ? 30 years old - so it has to be old -its impossible for it not to be old - however, is every old car a classic ? and is every Ferrari a classic just because its a Ferrari ? The answer (that many and not just me think so) is "No".

I never said old is no good - since when did I say that ? I said that the 308 is older than the 348 but is acknowledged as the better car though older.

I can't fawn on and congratulate people for buying a bad car because it will please people here who bought them although many here operate on that basis.

One comment... what is your definition of a "better car"? If a 308 and 348 are driven by equally competent drivers, on the edge the 308 and indeed 328 handle worse than a 348. However, the 348 was clearly not a loved model- design wise and from an engineering perspective there were still too many faults. The lines of the 308 and 328 will always be recognised as more beautiful and hence the value will reflect that. The 348 is the Porsche 964 of the Ferrari line up- the red headed step child and clearly unloved. Having owned one I can clearly see why. BUT I think that we need to put things into perspective. If you want to talk about classic cars, I can assure you that in true Ferrari circles, anything that is not a V12 (and we are not talking 80's Testarossa here) is not considered by some of the old guard as a true Ferrari... roll out the 250GTO, 275GTB, 250SWB etc etc... value wise these cars will make mince meat out of an Enzo, let alone a 308. So if we are talking classics, there are "true classics" and then everything else is just a different shade of whether the old car holds its value better than another model. But a 308 cannot seriously be considered a classic yet...

In the meantime I must say that I enjoy your comments as they are generally well read and as you have said, not necessarily made to please everyone, but at the very least to express your opinion (or that of what you have read)... better than just pandering to the egos of someone like me who clearly ended up with a rotten egg (which I must say I still dont mind driving whenever the moons are perfectly aligned).

In the meantime a very happy new year to all. May it bring peace, joy and prosperity to all... and a Gallardo to me.. haha

I can report that the manual is pretty easy to use. only issue is sitting position. cos the footwell is so deep and the car is a manual (thus needing you to straighten left foot to depress clutch completely), you end up sitting with the steering wheel very close to your chest. i.e. very italian, long legs-short hands type of driving position. But once you get used to the sitting position, driving the manual is pretty painless. :)
