Local dealer wants 25k to place order on car. The time frame is spec car in July with a Nov.or Dec delivery. Money is in non interest bearing account. Car is purchased at list price. The 25k part seems way hight to me. I only put up 10k on all the F cars I ordered.

    I assume Bentley Cont GT.

Convertible or Coupe? I suspect they are having people begin to walk away, and they are trying to protect themselves. Sounds to me as though they are trying to get the depreciation up front in case they get stuck with the car...

Yes, I'm talking about a Bentley. The 2500 seems right to me. I may not do it.

I only put down 1k for my GTC. Unless you want real specific options or color combo, the exact car you would want is probably sitting in inventory around the country somewhere. I would call around.

I think you are right. If I ordered green with a yellow interior or orange then he has a point. I'm thinking about white/magnolia or black/tan.

In that case, unless you are willing to pay a little over sticker you will need to order one but 1k is a fine deposit. Especially with a color they know will sell in a day anyway.

    Robert,

The difference might be the sellability of the car. Are you under any obligation to purchase the car or is the deposit refundable? Seems they want to deter people that are not serious. A ferrari dealer could sell your spot / car at list price with no problem. I'm not sure the Bentley would be that easy.

Has the deposit amount been discussed? Seems they could have thrown out any number. You can always counter....Tell them what you feel comfortable with.

    Nice car
