assuming youve rung around all the 'bigger name' stuff?

are you going with others? considered a 'quest' style self contained apartment?

Carlton Crest (the old Radisson) is literally accross the road from the track. You can watch the cars from your window.

The Williams Team stays at Eden on the Park on Queens Road. Have done for years.
A really nice boutique hotel, very personal attention.
The concierge always reminded me of Michael J Fox from the movie, he could organise anything you wanted.
I doubt if there would be any vacancies now though, we always used to book a year in advance.

Guys thanks very much for all the replies... yeah we have left it pretty late... so the goal now is just not wanting to end up in some useless hotel or motel.. We have a budget of around $1000 per night for Friday, Sat and Sun... dont know how far that will get us in Melbourne, hotel wise. If that helps anyone come up with some suggestions.

I have been looking about and thought why not just go for the Hilton:

    Hilton On The Park Melbourne
192 Wellington Parade, Melbourne (AUS), Australia 3002

Good reviews? Close to the track? In general will be a pleasant stay whilst in Melbourne... thanks again for all the replies.

Different "On The Park" located near Spring Street in the city.
Excellent hotel if you can get in.
However any hotel in the city is good.
Do what everyone else does and catch the tram to the track.
Trams to and from the track are free and run every few minutes.
    Enjoy the GP. :)
