What a night! I left the place @ 1am! Think the highlight of the evening was when everyone blasted off from "pitstop", it was a fantastic sight & sound spectacular only possible if u stayed behind ;)

The 360CS still holds the record as being the loudest, rudest exhaust IMHO.

I managed to get a back to back testdrive on my Gallardo & an F430 which consisted a long "Grandstand" straight & a hairpin roundabout :D

Thanks to Lung for the dinner & Mike for the most affectionate host.

Sorry guys, I charged up all my batteries & brought all the equipment but forgot my memory card :( but luckily Fong saved the night with his impressive equipment!

Fong, please work on them ;)

Yes 360CS exhaust is one of the best notes I ever heard. Quite a rare gem this car. Very well honed machinery.

What did you guys have for dinner?

Looking forward to seeing more great shots of the cars!!

    F430, Sept '05, stock exhaust
    Gallardo, Oct '04, Tubi
Both on Sport mode with windows down.

First, the F430 feels lighter on the steering. It's more agile, gearing refined & smooth in moving off & the cabin is not as well insulated so you get more "music" from the engine & exhaust. It gives a classic V8 wail once passed 4Krpm, I changed gears @ 5.5-6. The accelerator pedal is set deeper in to the right. You feel more connected to the car. The turning radius is remarkably smaller so making U-turns are easier. Blasted up to 140 before easing off, braking is capable but downshifts are somewhat slower & "quiet" then comes the 360 degree turn, went in @ 2nd then pushed her before half & I'd feel it roll a little & felt a wee bit nervous before turning out.

The Gallardo, bloody 1st gear acts as usual if you're not sensitive to the throttle (it can be smooth as silk once a while). Turning radius is huge, I took 1.5lanes before making a full lock so in heavy traffic this can be a bit annoying. The cabin is very well insulated even with windows down, I blasted it off & with the perhaps longer gearing? I could stretch the revs up latter & farther. The machine feels very planted & "heavier" like a cannon ball while the 430 like a bullet, both as exciting & the Tubi on this V10 roars with a deep tone like a saxophone against a flute. Different music but when I downshifts, this is the part I love, it changes almost immediately & the exhaust responses angrily with a loud high pitched vrooom when the F430 gives a softer, less engaging tone. The roundabout, went in @ 2nd but only pushed it a car length after the halfpoint & this is where the difference lies, I could pushed it hard with confidence & a little relaxed before making a sharp left exit.

Both are entertaining cars, I can live with the F430 daily anywhere, front clearance is higher than the Gallardo. It's more racing driver oriented & I'm quite sure with more experience, anyone can push the car farther. I love the way my Gallardo sounds with the Tubi & yes that dreaded 1st gear, raw angry tone like a bull charging away & when it downshifts woohoo! Good for novice drivers because it takes corners with such precision unlike most cars as well.

The F430 front "boot" space is double that of the Gallardo & rear space behind seats goes all the way down unlike the G where there's a "step" but to be fair the Gallardo is a lot more compact & with a short nose. Oh, even the glove compartment in the 430 is usable like a ladies handbag unlike the Gallardo where you can just stuff no more than two passports with the manual booklet in.

I still don't like the front intakes of the F430, a little afterthought IMO as it draws your attention to them when looked from the front, distractive I would say but from the 1/4 view, it's fantastic.

That's my short few mins with them. Over to you Lung or Phil or anyone.

*Bear in mind the Gallardo is the early model with 20 less horses, longer gearings & early model clutch.

Aiya my family just passed me a parcel from Ferrari Club Thailand this morning. If only I brought it along last night. They did a photo catalogue "Mondiali 2006" featuring their local classics, supercars to present models & owners features. Also got the DVD they did which Jean Todt watched with them & he gave them an "Oscar" award.

I've promised Theera, their Club president to make copies of the DVDs for you boys.

King, you should have a look @ both. Gives good pleasures to ownership.
