    Hi all,

A few years ago, a very good friend of my family lost his 17yo daughter to a drunk driver. Since then, her family has started the Rebeka Verea Foundation to raise money and go to schools in NJ and prevent drinking and driving.

I thought it would be a very nice gesture to have a huge run, raise money and donate it to the foundation. Before I present it to the Board, just wanted to get some opinions on where we could have it, how we can raise money, how many people can come. It would obviously be open to all..not just Fchatters.

I know I am new to the board, so any Vets willing to help out with some suggestions, please let me know and lets make it happen. Its for a great cause.

    Great initiative.

People like Speedracer, Ferrari0324 and jdogg have organized charity events, and others like Hovik have organized large events, so I'm sure you'll get a lot of good input.

Hope to see this come together.

i am sure you will have some sort of support from the board.

ferrarichat + run + charity event = success

usually all of the above go hand-in-hand.

    Rocco,
I just started planning the Spring's Exotix Run, and was thinking about adding some sort of charity for this time. Your friend's foundation is just the right idea.
If you're not familiar with the size of the Exotix Runs check out the threads here.
If you're interested in working on this one together PM me with your contact info .

Will keep everyone posted as ime goes on.

    Thanks for showing interest.

I can definitely get tons of people in the Z community to show up and support if enough notice is given. But make sure its in a big enough area, because the last time there was a Z meet for charity over 150 cars showed up including the whole crew from Carz v2 (had many cars in the Tuners Salon of the philly auto show if you went) and we overran the lot and pretty much shut down the town of Condordville, PA. due to rubbernecking along route 202. If thats to many people I can always tone it down and invite less of the crowd, but Rocco...just give me the word and I can make the turnout of this event rediculous ;)

Hmm... It's interesting that you mentioned about that foundation. I've seen posters about it all over Hudson County (Union City mostly) where I work. I was always curious of it and now I see the purpose of it.

I'll back you up as much as I can - maybe not with cars but in other way.

    Hi,
    great idea,
    let me add my thoughts;

do the run and combine it with a luncheon at a NNJ restaurant ( I have some suggestions) with an italian theme. I can get some sponsors to donate as well as maybe a raffle for the charity. you'd be surprised how much money you raise ( from the lunch, the run, the raffle and the sponsors and how much fun everyone has..it is a blast to do) .

pm me and the others if you want us to roll =up our sleeves and make this happen. As stated above, I am sure you will find f-chateers very helpful and us tri-staters cream of the crop...

    Hovik,

    Rocco,
There's always something going on almost every given weekend. Don't think thats going to affect the turnout, and I don't want to push it any further since we haven't had a decent run/meet for a number of months already.

This could very well affect the turn out. Esp. in NJ. Lots of Catholics and other Christians who have families and may have family obligations. I'd be careful on this one... Anyone else think this is an issue? I'm happy to be wrong here.

Raffles are great...there was a get to gether/charity event in Paramus a few years ago that utilized a raffle to raise several thousand dollars for Tsunami relief. The event had cooperation from Ikea (which is closed on Sunday's in Paramus) and good PR...News channel 9 or 11 was there along with several other NJ reporters.

That Ikea may not be a bad meeting spot although I do like the Edgewater spot from past events last year.

Let me know how GDC can help out. I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem to donate a day rental to be raffled (valued at $1-2k).
