To bad your not done working. Now you have to detail both cars.

You will enjoy having it very much. I have had mine for a couple of monthes, and love it. The only bad thing is everyone else wants to use it!

    Nice lift.

How long does it take to use? As in backing up the car under the lift, putting the lift down, the back up the car that's on the lift, pu the lift back up, and put the car back underneath? It seems to be a lot of work.

I can use it right now. but i decided not to because of the wet tires. I had trouble getting the car on the lift and the TR rearend tires stick out about 1 inch each side. I had a hard time getting it on the lift not to hard but it wasnt a piece of cake either. I will lift it tomorrow and post pics too :D

Congrats - your lift looks awesome. Nice cars too.

I put a four post lift in 2 months ago as well (I paid the lift company about $750 to put it in as I was quite busy). Prior to install, I had to have the garage door tracks and motor replaced with a set that goes up high and tight against the garage ceiling to avoid having the garage door hitting the car roof of a lifted car when opening the garage. In your last photo, it looks like you have an extra two or three feet you could gain in lift height if you did something similar. Also, from the photo, it may be the angle the picture was taken but it looks like the garage door might come close to hitting the roof of the testarossa if opened up while the car is in the top lifting position. As a precaution, be a bit careful there.

To those thinking of getting a four post lift, most lift vendors sell a version that is aout one foot wider and a bit longer and lifts a bit taller for an extra $1000 or so - I opted for this version (usually the XLT model designation) and it allows you to be much less precise when driving the car onto and off the lift as you have substantially more clearance on each side without worrying about hitting against a post. Ferraris are wide (the testrossa and 360/430 are real wide), and the extra wide lift helps in this regard if you have the extra space (6 inches to left and right).

Another note on the photo with the van underneath, not sure what brand lift that is but it is nice how the ramps stay extended outwards (rearwards) and do not drop down too much when the lift is raised. I bought a Rotary / Revolution lift and the quality is great, but the ramps on the end pivot downwards about 75 or 80 degrees, almost straight down, which makes it difficult to drive a car under when the lift is not fully raised without having to take the ramps off the lift. Taking the ramps on and off takes time and they are fairly heavy and can get dirty. I have not figured out a way to have the ramps remain extended substantially outwards (largely parallel with the ground, as in the photo with the van underneath) when the lift is raised just above the lower car height to avoid having to remove the ramps to drive the lower car under each time.

Finally, you can order drips trays for $$, or you can pays $40 for a couple of 4 by 8 sheets of plywood that you rip down to the width between the two runways to avoid water or oil or road pebbles from dropping down onto the lower car.

Congrats on the lift. How much does a 4 post lift cost and what brands are recommended?

No. Like yours, it came with the rollers so you can move it if needed.

I machined some spacers to hold the ramps up, instead of hinging down when the lift is in the air. I was also tired of removing the ramps to drive under it.

Mine came with spacers to place the ramps. The only trouble i had to get the car on the lift was the snow. I was slipping and sliding all the way up. It took me about 3 times to get up on the ramp!

You are right I do plan on getting garage door tracks that go all the way up. With all the bad weather i have been putting it off just like putting together this lift. You do have to be careful when raise the garage door and have it all the way up. Another note is i cant raise mine all the way up without hitting that beam too but i still have enough room.

Finnally mine came with drip pans, rollers and ramps at no additional cost plus shippng was free....:D

Good thing it only took five hours any longer you would spent more time shoveling the snow to get the cars back in the garage.

With earthquakes in California, why wouldn't bolt the lift to the ground?

Very true. I was thinking of putting it off with the snow storm coming but my brother in law talked me into it. I decide to go ahead anyway. It was a big chance. I knew it was coming and time was not on my side but I got it up. It was not easy and the directions SUCKED. I download a manual from another manufacture and used that one as reference too. It had better directions but slightly different too.

What do the spacers look like and how do they attach? Do you have a pic?

I have a Rotary lift and the upper end of the ramps overlays the runways by about 4 or 5 inches. On this ramp overlay portion, there are two holes to allow clearance for bolts that extend into the runway. I thought about removing them, putting a washer under them, and screwing them back in, but I have not had time to check into it yet.

The four post lifts from danmar, bendpak, and several others are available on ebay.
