How do I remove the fuel injection unit.

    One of the Exhaust Gas Analyzer taps on my 308 is broken. Figures it's the one below the fuel injection unit. In order to get to it I need to remove the fuel injection unit. I have no problem with the fuel lines, but just wondering what else is required to remove this unit? Are there any gotchas?

    Second question, how does the fuel injection system on these cars work???

    Nope- no gotchas. You are about three nuts away from having it off in the photo. There are rubber mounts it is attached to the frame with. Just take the nuts off, and lift. You can leave the fuel lines attached to the unit if all you need is to get it out of the way. Just lay the whole thing on top of the plenum.

    Could someone please show a photo of the Exhaust Gas Analyzer taps on a 308 ?
    The only one I was aware of is just ahead of the Cat. (I'm new at this, I have an analyser but haven't used it yet.)

    Thanks for the pics !!! - looks like one "tap" for each cylinder. (I've had the car 1 1/2 years, I've never noticed the taps, I Guess I'm still learning)

    Decent start, I'd suggest getting the WSM and the Bosch/Probst book from bently publishers. best money you'll spend for working on the CIS. the WSM has specific tables and instructions for the Ferrari tuned CIS.

    Amen, what he said concerning the Mondial WSM and Bosch manual. You may need to use a tap or two with a hammer on each of the three screws to 'unlock' them from years of being in there. Have changed out my Bosch K-Jet for a refurb'ed unit as was seeing uneven A/F ratios during dyno runs.

    The system is very straightforward and easy to change out. If you plan to remove your fuel lines i suggest using new copper crush washers for eveything as odds are the ones on your car are decades old.

    Guys - Thanks for the responses. I was able to get the fuel injection distributor off without any problems. Thats the good news, the bad news is that all of the Exhaust Gas Analyzer taps, excluding one, are broken. I'm going to drill out the old connections and retap the threads. My question is: Where would I find replacements for the original EGA taps? Or, is it better to just plug the holes?

    Most of the larger parts suppliers will probably have the plugs for the taps. (See sticky at the top of this topic).

    Ferrari.uk will have them UNLESS they've gone NLA (unlikely).

    At worst, you can have a machine shop turn some out. Recommend they use SS & in all cases install with a Cu or Ni based anti-sieze compound.
