Well, Sassafraz is no longer a hot spot!.........pun intended,,,:D

Those 4 above mentioned restaurants are OK, if you like nice preparation and 'designer' food. If you are looking for classic taste and flavour, head to College St.!!

Interesting. It is hard to be low key if you participate in events. I can't imagine buying a car and then not using it at all or using it by yourself. The big fun in owning an Fcar is to become part of the community. The Fcar community in HK is extremely close knit

    Magna weighing Chrysler bid?

    Feb 26, 2007 10:54 AM
    Reuters

DETROIT – Canadian auto parts supplier Magna International Inc. has been "seriously considering the potential purchase" of Chrysler Group, an analyst for KeyBanc Capital Markets said, citing unnamed sources.

In a note for clients issued Monday, KeyBanc analyst Brett Hoselton said that he did not believe the two companies would ultimately merge despite the "substantial due diligence work on Chrysler" by Magna.

"We believe the merger strategy is risky and will confront resistance from numerous (Magna) and Chrysler stakeholders and that the ultimate combination of the two companies is a low-probability outcome," Hoselton said.

A spokesman for Magna was not immediately available for comment.

DaimlerChrysler AG said earlier this month that it was keeping all options open for its struggling North America unit and has been working with investment bank J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. to prepare a detailed sales prospectus.

Daimler representatives have declined to comment on potential bidders.

Sources have told Reuters that General Motors Corp. has been talking to Chrysler about an outright purchase or an alliance. Other potential bidders include private equity firms, people familiar with the transaction have said.

Hoselton said he was maintaining a "hold" rating on Magna stock, but said there was a risk that shares in the auto supplier could fall "to the extent that investors believe that a merger could be consummated."

He said sources had told him that Magna's initial assessment of a Chrysler purchase had included a meeting with leadership of the United Auto Workers union, a visit to all of Chrysler's facilities and access to the struggling automaker's financial data.

"We believe that (Magna) management has come to believe that it has reached a plateau as a supplier and niche contract assembler and that increased involvement in the design, research and development of vehicles is the natural progression of its current capabilities," Hoselton said.

"We also believe Magna views Chrysler as its opportunity to become the low-cost provider of virtually everything in the automotive supply chain," he said.

Chrysler lost $1.48 billion (U.S.) last year and is cutting 13,000 jobs and closing an assembly plant in Delaware as part of a plan to return to profitability by 2008.

I think he should stay away. He's got a great company which he started out from nothing in a warehouse on Dupont St. Buying Chrysler could be the end I think.

On another note. A good business person can always smell a deal. Maybe he can buy it for a song? More jobs in Canada? Possibly a good way to look at it!

    Thoughts?

You have to ask ... "Is the Chrysler Brand viable?" Is it worth putting on life support, and keeping it alive?

I think it needs to be pruned in a major way ... take it back to it bare esence ... eliminate everything but the best production facilities and best dealerships ... once you get this train wreak back on the rails and chugging along ... then maybe you look at expanding the lines.

Winstar ... end of it's life cycle I think ... Dodge Viper? Crossfire? hmmmm ... Dodge Charger and Challenger? Lot's of nostalgia attached to those two models ... The 300? Not bad ... but it seems to already be into the middle of it's life cycle ... Jeep? The iconic SUV in most Amerian's eyes ... I think something could be done with it.

Major Problem though ... the Union... nuff said.

That's what I thought. And Mike, I once heard a rumour that Aiad's (sp?) Dad is a involved with Lambo in the UK. Is that correct or just a rumour?

Too many good comments in the last few postings......Magna doesn't have enough $$$ to buy Chrysler, chances are they will be partnered with a Financial House, Investment Firm, or Buyout partners etc.... Then they will take Chrylser apart in bits and pieces, sell all the "surplus" to the Chinese and French, and keep the company small and profitable.
