Do you guys know some proven methods to keep your home phone from getting attempted faxes?
Anything to push on your phone to remove your number from that fax machine's dial list?
Does the 'national do not call' list include faxes?

Thanks, and if you received this message by error, please dial 888-BUG-OFF! :)

Wish I knew. This is one thing that really annoys me because it's such a waste of paper and ink!

I don't see why not, that might be your best option.

I thought PeterS had the best idea a while back. Get the fax number of the offending spammer company, loop a long black page of paper and let your fax run all night. :D

This is ingeniously evil. I might have to consider it!:)
How annoying it is to dash to pick up your ringing phone only to hear that friggin' fax tone!!

You could set up a fax server or unified messaging on your PC. It's smart enough to detect a fax and accept it before your phone rings. On a fax server you can print only what you want or redirect as needed. There are a ton of solutions out there. Some newer "All-in-Ones" can hold the fax/print jobs in the que so you can print/delete only what you want. You can interface those with your PC as well.

The DNC list is your best bet. The junk will dwindle.

8-10 years ago I started getting fax calls to my home phone, probably a dozen times or so and filling up my answering machine. Since I'm using cable, I had no modem on my pc or a fax machine, truely a PITA.

THEN I started getting them at 2-3am! Finally remembered my ancient laptop had a modem (DUH). Hooked that up and found they were MULTIPLE daily rate quotes from a bank. WTF....after 1/2 hour on the phone I'm talking to someone in charge. Oh, what # is that? Are you sure it's us? (DUH#2) I don't know how your # got in our list. Are you sure you don't want our rates?(DUH#3) blahblahblah. Took them a couple of days to remove also.

Most spam faxes I receive (especially the cancun for $249) have a number on the bottom to call and be removed. I have done that with 2 that I remember and I do not get the faxes anymore.
I think there is a law now that they have to put their contact info so you can be removed by a phone call.
Don't know for sure. But the 2 I called took me off

That's true and it does work for some. But there were a couple where the "remove me" phone number was never answered or was always busy (even at 4AM). I finally set my fax to not auto answer for a few weeks (turning it on only when I expected a fax) and that cleared my number from those lists.

lmao.....I've done this numerous times....The black colored pages worked flawlessly for me. I've lost a lot of my fan club, lol. They don't send me faxes anymore.

My FAX # is on the DO NOT CALL list. I don't get any junk on it.

Thanks, guys. All above noted. These seem to run in cycles, and when they hit, they are very irritating.
