Anyone have experience with this setup now on EBay? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/FERRARI-308-328-COILOVER-SHOCKS-SPRINGS-ADJUSTABLE-SUSP_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33590QQihZ008QQitemZ180091158927QQrdZ1 Here's their web site: http://www.medicimotorsports.com/ I need to replace my shocks in the next few months. Would this be a better choice than going with the OEM units? Thanks.
Michael, These appear to be QA-1 shocks and springs, single damping adjustment and QA-1 springs. Follow the search on 308 shocks and I think you may want to go with the Verell/Birdman QA-1 recomendation and hardware set up with no "notch the control arm", and possibly Eibach springs per Enjoythemusic's (Steve Rochlin) experience and advice. I think the overall price will be comparable for a nicer set-up. I'm headed in the same direction as you, I'll keep you posted on model #s etc.
There is a post in Technical about the same set up. The only thing i forgot to add is that installing these shocks will require you to set the car on 4 scales to adjust the spring perches. This enables you to adjust the"weight" on each wheel after you have set the height. My fronts weighed 1420 and the rears 1801, with a diagonal difference of about 20 pounds. If you cannot borrow or rent the scales and do the job yourself, you will either need to pay someone to do the job or possibly suffer some quirky handling. It is not hard, it just takes time. If you do not do this, you will likely have significantly different force between the fronts and or rears. This could show up as different cornering right and left or a tendency to pull. Nick sells a shock set up for about the same $$$. check with him. He is very helpfull. hth, chris
Thanks for the feedback guys. Lou, would really appreciate your assistance on this. Please let me know what parts I will need to order and approx cost when you know. Thanks!
That kit is priced about $400 more than you can buy the whole thing for including Verell's bushing kit, 4 QA1 shocks, 4 springs and an a spanner wrench. They are standard QA1 shocks, standard springs, a QA1 spanner (all available from Summit Racing) and a bushing kit. (Get one from Verell). And you will need to grind your A arms in the front to get them in! If the kit included our killer extended front shock eyes for no A-arm cutting installation....it would still be $200 overpriced!!
