The TdF and TR are copies (Alloy bodied and 250 & 365 based respectively), the others genuine.
There is a lot more to the TdF than that but it's discussed elswhere!

Great pics, thanks for sharing. Is the green primer you are using just etch, or is it one of those epoxy / etch primers?

Just wondering, as will be going the bare metal route soon....

    Thanks

    Thanks for the comments.
The etch is a wash etch (not a high build) but is 2k based.
If you don't have access to an oven you MUST leave a good few weeks before working over the etch in filler as the acid within etch will soften the filler and you will have sinkage marks, and don't EVER apply etch over filler!
Any probs you have or questions feel free to pm me.
    Cheers, Al.

    Al,

Thanks for the great pictures of your shop and the beautiful work you have done. I really like the Jaguar, looks like a new one, and the infamous MEL 8.

Hope things are good for you these days and do you have any new projects that you want to tell us about? Good Luck Al. :)

    Ciao...Paolo

Hi Paolo, cheers. Did you ever hear back from the former owner of 1751?
No projects on the go (other than sorting my own Triumph!).
The XK was unusual in that the client wanted the original colour of Dove - it was nice not to do one in OEW or BRG for a change and certainly looks striking and gets loads of attention.
    Best wishes, Al.

Hi Hazy, yes it is an original - actually an S1 but with S2 lamps etc, the owner runs nitrous for drag days etc so the Ti dam he deemed a necessity! Personally I'd prefer to keep it looking stock.
We sprayed all of the striping on because the only available ones are of appalling quality!
It's been mag featured a few times I think, the owner runs a nitrous firm.
    Cheers. Al

Al Mate, Glad to hear from you! I love the pics of the Dove XK, she's a beaut! I had a 1962, 3.8 Mk II Sedan, 4sp O/D, w/wire wheels, in Dove Grey, at the time I was looking at 1751. My friends called it Battleship Grey. It was an OK color for the Jag. Sedan. I owned it at the same time I saw 1751, and thats why the 16" wheels and drum brakes, on 1751, still stay in my memory.
I haven't heard anything from Avery Greene on the Ferrari, and don't really expect to. It seems from your discovery of MEL 8, the tdf. and the shenannigans of it, and your discovery and suspicions of 1751, and it's owners intentions there, the big stink, should be revealed for all to see, so that no one will be fooled as to what these cars are, before a large amount of money, has changed hands.

Al, what is your thinking on 1751, and it's future? Was 1751 a scam and not a "Speciale"? I think someone knows and they aren't talking about it, nor will they ever. Al, what can you say about it? Good Luck, Mate.

    Ciao...Paolo

Hi Paolo, I believe - and this is purely an opinion as I did no more than evaluate the car - that 1751GT is not a correct 'Speciale', if you scrutinise the pics carefully the side vents are not in line with any of the bodylines, also the quarter bumpers had umpteen washers and spacers jammed in to make them sit at the right angles, though this may have been just one aspect of the poor quality work carried out on this previously. The headlamp covers looked absolutely right though - do you know if these were ever offered as an aftermarket fitment? The other area that looks odd is the flare to the rear arches.
Whatever was done to the car I believe was carried out a long time ago.
Possibly this is why you have not had a reply from Mr Greene!
As for the cars' future I really don't know, I have been told that it is now in a shocking state and the owner is considering his options. Ultimately I have no regret in publicising the owners' conduct with this and the TdF; I lost my business, house etc because of what happened (I know that I put myself in the position of being reliant basically on one client, but I am a craftsman not a businessman! - one takes people on trust).
MEL8 is the Lusso and has no issues - it is genuine.
    Best wishes, Al.

Cheers mate, yes it's an RS in Olympic Blue. Sadly I (and I'm sure many members of this forum) can remember when you could pick these up for a couple of hundred quid! Hindsight is a wonderfull thing - if only!!!!!!!!!!!

Please everyone bear in mind that I am getting up and running again - if you need anything body/paint PLEASE pm me, very, VERY competetive, quality as you see is not an issue!

    Thanks, Al.

I had an RS2000 mk II in olympic blue, didnt suit the car as well as it did the mkI, which I still hanker for even now, and yes you are right, I specifically remember being offered a slightly ropey but rot free Escort mkI twin cam, genuine Lotus job for about £800, ohhh, probably 20 or so years ago. I can only begin to imagine its value now, £20/£30k ?????
