So what's a car club without a club car right? We've been looking for a club car for a while, and decided that a club car should have 4 important qualities.

    1) It should pretty much be the fastest, scariest car i've ever driven.
    2) It should be painted an attention-grabbing color.
    3) It should be loud enough to wake the dead.
    4) It should be the only one like it anywhere.

With all that in mind, here's what the guys at Snakepit Automotive hooked us up with. The engine is a NASCAR derived Roush 406 that cranks out just shy of 600 horsepower, and the car weighs in at 2400 lbs. The tranny is a 4 speed Jericho crashbox, and the rear end is a Dana 9 inch. This should be interesting.

The thing drives a little rough, i'm not gonna lie. the clutch is like an on/off switch, and because it's lowered i'd say manhattan is pretty out of the question, but with a little practice (and a whole lot of patience) it is totally streetable. It should be in our hands by the middle of next week unless there's some sort of miracle and we can have it by sunday's run. We will definitely have it for the grand opening event on April 1st.

Now, the real question is, straight line speed; Enzo vs. your Cobra?

The snakepit guys said the car will run in the low 10's if i put slicks on it, or the low 11's with street tires, so in a straight line on a hot day it would be a good race. around a track i think my first stop would be the wall of the first turn, at least until i get some practice driving it. i've never driven a car this light with this much power and no traction control, so i gotta be careful for a while, at least until i install the all wheel drive system... harrrrrr....here's one more pic of the fuel cell and dry sump oil system

No question. That car has too much power for many tracks - Limerock for instance - you would not be able to utilize all that hp. Not to mention - the Evo has AWD and 2 computers - 1 to control each differential - a very large unfair advantage to the RWD kit car. Plus, if the car will do 10's in the 1/4 - then the car itself, and it's suspension are def. not deisgned for road course and the Evo would own it.... IF* I was driving.

    $20 on the Cobra. ;)

Computers are cool, and I love my rally cars, but a good driver in a light car with gobs of power and a good gearbox is a very tough thing to tango with, computers or no.

I would have to agree with you if we were talking about the Ultima GTR or the Radical - But a Cobra replica or kit car? HELL NO. Ask anyone with one - they just don't carry the best reputation for handling. Whereas, the Evo has built it's rep. on it.

Let me chime in here for a minute. Although I'm pretty positive that, in this case, the Evo would win because it's easier to really take it to the limit, this car IS in fact, set up for road racing. This exact car won the 1 Lap of America in both 2000 and 2001 for superformance, and it's suspension is optimized for handling, not drag. I think to run in the low 10's on a dragstrip right now the suspension would have to be adjusted. And although it's based on the Superformance kit car, I assure you, this monster is 100% race car that we're just passing off as a street car. I think that with a professional driver who knows how to push this car to the limit, it would really surprise most people at how fast it is around a track. Personally, I'm putting in a 3500 RPM rev limiter until I can drive the thing without nearly ****ting my pants.

Forget all the talk. Put some money up - DEAD SERIOUS.

MattF - As I do respect your opinion and honesty with experience - in the utmost form, I differ in opinion based on fact. In this case, with the subject car of aforementioned choice - it boils down to either/or.
This is a supercar - in many forms of the word, but not in all. It has a fuel cell, a heavily modified motor and some cage and suspension work - but in no way is a convertible ever going to be as rigid in chassis stiffness as a coupe or 4/door - sedan or wagon. Thus resulting in loss of handling.

I encourage all difference of opinion. So please feel free to debate.

Someone needs to make a 4 door formula car or a coupe. Thats why those guys can never turn. Roof has nothing to do with handling. You can make an open top car handle as good a sedan/coupe with the right engineering. Just because a structure is not "closed" does not mean it loses rigidity.

Matt, we really need to see you drive. You talk a mean game. Why dont you rent a GDC car or something and back up your talk on the track. April 7th Limerock....

well maybe not a GDC car cause you cant track it. But you get my point:)

You talk so much shlt Shiv, it gets me angry - I provide fact to back up my opinion. Google it.

Rent a GDC car? LOL .... I don't have to rent a supercar - we both rent the SAME car - that way there are NO excuses - some American BS shltbox like an Impala - that drives and handles like a bowl of soup - then put your money where your mouth is. POINT BLANK.
