    I see your point.

For the size that it is, it sure seems a bit light.

I sure doubt its b/c they used CF :)

For those of you who are unhappy with the key, have you taken a look here? http://www.ferraristore.com/e-shop.des/page,website.help_topics/pagina_naam,return_form/page,website.legal_info/pagina_naam,return_policy/

I am unsure about what I plan to do with this thing. If I ship it back, I'll be out about fifty bucks from shipping cost both ways. Not a big deal I know but it's the principal.
For those of you who plan on going after ferrai, what resolution are you expecting? A real key, your money back or possibly a huge class action suit where we execute a hostile takeover? ;)
I am just trying to figure out what I should do with this hollow piece of plastic...
    Thanks in advance.

Thats a great explanation and I think I will give that a try where did you get the blank to cut the replacement blade from?

Guys, I cannot believe the thread I've created here over a small thing like this...pretty funny to watch.

Anyhow, I bought a key from Jimmy540i and just received it this morning. It is UNCUT and is the Ferrari registered key. I must say that he provided it exactly as he described it. Perfect condition, in the box, all of the trimmings.

I will say, however, that it isn't really anything too special. At the end of the day, it is just a key head with a Ferrari emblem on it. Cool piece of "memorabila" which I intend to cut for my 360 Spider but didn't have much of that "WOW" facotr I was expecting because it is a piece of red plastic with a Ferrari emblem.

I guess my point is, don't over spend for this thing. You won;t be overly impressed when you get it.

    Good luck,

    Joe

Thanks Greg. I will note that the difference between the one I purchased from Jimmy and the other pictures I've seen of those from Ferraristore is that on Jimmy's, the emblem is a rectangle, not the shield.

Please note the difference before purchasing from Jimmy.

Can you please explain how you freed up that key? Mine is not budging which leads me to believe there is now a Tee head on the key.

Dang, I just came up to get some air since my last post and realized this thread went on with some messy out comes. I guess FerraiStore has changed their policy on Enzo key since I got mine from them last time. I owe huge apology to many people who went ahead and ordered the keys based on my post. Hope all of you get to cancel your order and get your money back…….

    Dominic,

I'll try that. Thank you. That's good ad"vice".

    Chris,

Not to worry as there is generally a good way out of eveything. The good findings you've come up with before (ex: remote antenna solution) more than make up for it!!!

I got my key from Jimmy and it is exactly as advertized. As noted elsewhere the emblem is in the shape of a rectangle, however, I like the ring it is perfect for me.

I filled my key with epoxy - which is fairly dense and heavy. Becomes almost as heavy as a 360 key.

When you say filled, do you mean that you opened one half and then filled the interior space of the unit?

That's correct. I opened one half and filled the interior space completely. I guess the setting time of the epoxy varies, but the stuff we get over here sets in 5 minutes. I exhanged the key blades and inserted the 550 key blade. I made sure to put epoxy below and above the base of the key blade.

The epoxy gives the key a much more solid feel, and removes the sensation of holding a hollow, red easter egg.....

I guess you can use other materials as well

I am trying to picture this.

Did you cut through the keyway plastic for the key to go through into the body?

Sorry - no pictures from the process

After you have removed the two red sides you can either cut out the precut key blade from the plastic or you can wriggle it out. Try the fit of your own key blade into the black plastic. Cut away necessary black plastic in order for the key blade to fit. Put one of the red sides on the black plastic and fill the epoxy half way up and insert the key blade on top and push it into the epoxy. Make sure the blade is straight and fill a little epoxy on top of the key. Fill some more epoxy into the last red side and sqeeze it in place.

    Voila - you're done

Hans thank you as well as Dominick for all the help.

I was able to get the original key out of the plastic body center, and then I had a key made today. Strange that it's the same key blank as it is for Fiat! Ugh.

Anyway, I am going to cut the wings off the key, use the Dremel to open the slot into the plastic body, and epoxy the whole thing as you said. I want to make sure the key is securely adhered so as not to loosen with age.

Thanks again for all the assistence.

I'll post photos when it's done.

Can't sell for security reasons is a load of crap.
I had to spend the weekend in England and went into a hardware store in a small town in Northamptonshire not only did they cut a key for my 360 but they even had the blank (that is made in Italy) referenced in their book under Ferrari.
I will replace the blade on my Ferrari store key with this one.

I posted this in the 355 section but I will put it here too. I bought a key from jimmy too. I spent 2 dollars to have it cut at ACE hardware and it works perfect.
As for the weight. I just taped two nickels together and wrapped them in paper and put them inside. It gives it the perfect weight.
