Interesting car. Aforementioned problems of service techs and parts supply. However, it makes me recall the the time I met Tom Walkinshaw at the Grand Prix du Monaco: What an a$$! Regardless, I think it's an interesting piece for a collection. As far as a driver goes, well, I have my doubts.

I believe the blue and green cars were repainted silver and black.I dont know which one is which though.Even so i still thought one of the original was silver aswell as the silver repaint if you see what i mean, but that would make 6 cars?

Found this, seems one of the S is not a true S so there are 5 'real' cars. Its the one i thought was the original silver.

    http://wspr-racing.com/chassis/xj220.htm

i have attached the other four xj220s in thier original colours plus the blue and green as they are today and the 'fake' s at the bottom ( at least i believe thats the fake S)

Notice the 959 and the 956 or 962 in the background in those photos? Quite the garage...

There are enough toys in that garage to last me a lifetime. Looks like a 917/10 in the back as well?

Where? I service one of these things, and parts are VERY difficult to find..if not impossable. Do you have a source for the service books and shop manual?

I'll post some pics that I have buried someplace on here...

You're right, and the "little" problems like leaking head gaskets (close to a $1,000.......for just the gasket) will drive you crazy.
Whoever says they are going to buy one of these on a whim is a fool.
Here is an example of a detail that can really get you; the car is constructed around an aluminum honeycomb monocoque that is EPOXIED. The gas tanks are fuel cells that have to be replaced at regular maintenance intervals. If this is not done they can LEAK. Guess what gasoline does to the epoxy?
    It DISSOLVES it.
So what if the current fuel cell is good, do you know if there was ever a leak before this cell? Do you know how to inspect the car to see if there has been a leak in the past? Do you know how much you can spend repairing the damage from the leak that occured 3 years ago before that leaking fuel cell was replaced with this new one that "looks OK"?
By the way one of the photos from above of the black and silver cars shows two modified standard cars, not S cars.
Fuel cells leaking aren't the only issues, the list goes on.

Are you sure those two are modified standard cars, you seem very knowledgeable and i am inclined to believe you, but i was led to believe that they were repainted S cars. The link in the first post to the orange car even states that only three cars have original liveries and headlight clusters today? Which would match with what i thought was the case with the silver and Black cars. The owner himself used to post here on fchat, he may still be around perhaps he can enlighten us.

I was the one who bought all cars from TWR and sold them to USA.

5 Cars S built and the extra one ( not really a S but more a race/street 220 )was unfinished personnal car of Tom Walkinshaw. The car was finish in my shop in Belgium , before sold to France , before sold to USA. It s the only one where you can remove the back bonnet !

+1, I thought I read that those 2 were real TWR S's, the only difference was that they had custom rims made.

The silver and black ones featured in European Car were owned by the same owner and are the real deal.
