I could predict with a high degree of confidence that Pee Pee doesn't give a sh*t what happens to them.
When my boy got his porker 18 months ago I bought him plates for Xmas - P(for Porsche of)GS(his initials)-911 but just a short while ago a mate of his saw the car for the first time and asked "Why do the plates say pigs?" and of course now Gazza won't believe me that I never thought of that! I swear I didn't...
Thanks Robert, I lost track of our old 1989 TR (SN 81073) and wondered if it was her. What is the history of yours, there can't be too many Blue Chiarro's in mid 88? Image Unavailable, Please Login
getting back to this.. ..given theres been an obvious surge in values of heritage plates, do you think its possible there will be a market 'correction' of sorts? what if anything would cause these plates to plummet/drop in value at auction all of a sudden? unlike a businesses value which can rise and fall based on its activities....plates are what they are and never change...effectively
Great pic Scott. You ran a Testa in Targa. Awesome, yet gutsy move. I ran my red car at PI for the first time two weeks ago and the brakes only held for the first three applications. Second time into turn one and it was all over for the remainder of the day, token braking only from that point on. I suppose that's what gearboxes ae for eh? Pulled a 2.00.10 on street rubber and 18 year old brakes for my first time, so I was well happy enough. My blue car has had a chequered past. Purchased from the factory in 88 and 1st service at Ferrari of Monaco. A number of owners since then, with Robert Guinness (Irish Beer Baron) having spent many years with her including a few track days. She's been a bit neglected and is overdue for some serious TLC, but she is taking pride of place in our workshop and we are steadily progressing on the rebirth.
I have done all the dumb things.............normally more than once!! I did the inaugural Targa Tasmania in 1992 in the Testarossa. Big mistake; but as the event was an unknown I didn't know any better. It turned out to be 5 days of butt puckering near misses. We didn't even wear helmets for the first day and there were a few big accidents. I did the next event in my 328, the next in a 308 and the last two in an RX7 twin turbo monster. There is no cheap fix for the TR brakes I am afraid. I put race pads and fluid in it and it made bugger all difference. At Calder it would boil the fluid and the pads would crumble under the strain. No brakes (pedal to the floor) within a few laps. The 512TR is no better in my experience. I did the Ferrari course at Mugello in a 512 TR in 1994 and the brakes sucked just as badly- in a track prepared 512TR ! A 2 minute lap in a TR at PI isn't bad at all with dud brakes. The fastest lap in a TR that I know was done by Scott Sherman on A008R's at 1 minute 54 seconds FYI. If you get anywhere near that you are really doing well (I didn't). Good luck with your restoration, please make sure you start a photo thread on the work Image Unavailable, Please Login
