Hope the driver's okay.. What's the blue thing that deployed from the rear? Some sort of parachute device to slow the car down?
OOF! That sucks! ...well I guess it had to happen eventually... At least it's not totaled and the driver is probably OK. It is still just a car.
It could be the blue duffle from the bonnet...by the way does anyone know what goes in there, the car cover perhaps? http://www.symbolicmotors.com/vehicledetail.php?id=117 Image Unavailable, Please Login
Just told by a friend "in the know"- a car cover, orange sign to put in the road in case of an accident, and an IPAQ Computer for service techs..
The whole thing is supposedly worth five million right? From what I can see that looks like more than 1/5 broken. And a new one is 1.X million. Sounds like totaled to me. These will be crashed just as much as any hypercar like it. Every storm starts with a single drop of rain. Peter Hatch
No, it's not totaled at all. They sell for ~$1.6mil new and they don't cost near that in actual materials... when people talk about VW losing money on every Veyron and that they are worth $5mil each, they are including the cost VW spent on research and development in the design of the car... Yes it will ungodly expensive to fix, but nowhere near totaled.
Website isn't working correctly, but from what I hear, that sucks. It's just a car, yes, but it could mean so much more to the driver. You could say that the Mona Lisa is just a painting, but if that got stolen, it'd be a whole 'nother story.
Thanks! Would anyone happen to have pictures of these items? I know the car cover is blue and what an orange triangle looks like, but what does the computer look like, does it at least get a Bugatti sticker??
It's a saying. Anyway, we really don't have any information on how much damage the car actually took. It would not be unimaginable that the chassis was bent, and also it would not be too far fetched to say the undercarriage, as well as the majority of the suspension was bent to a point where it would no longer be usable. In which case these things definitely add up. Maybe it is not "totaled" in the sense that you can not fix it, but more in the sense that if it takes $X00,000, just to get back the car as less than new condition then how are we to say that the car will even be repaired by the owner? Maybe take the Pagani approach and bring the car back to the factory and have it fixed there, but if I had the money to blow 1.6 million on the car the first time, it's not hard to believe you could do it again.
