The GTautomatic version will be launched first, test drive car should arrive in 3rd quarter of 2007.
The Duoselect variant should follow up less than a year later, hopefully by then the gearshifts speed would attain at least the same timings as the F430's (sport mode).
I believe the car would potentially look good in its flesh. Heavier? so long as it outperforms the 6 series in almost everyway. I trust Maserati/Ferrari on this few aspects, they have not dissapoint me yet.

Sorry man, if I have the money I'd still put it on an LP640 (that's if you can even find one here). Wouldn't care too much how it laps the Ring. That is Supercar looks to me.

But the thing is people here who can afford a 599 can bloody well have more!

That's right! I had mixed feelings with the looks of the 599GTB from the press pics, but it began to grow on me after seeing more of it in the flesh....it looks gorgeous now.

    But! But!
The immediate car on the hit list is a Cayenne Turbo. Black on Black!

May get rid of the RRS by year end for the CT.

Very Very much! Think the only thing that would persuade me to part with it (v v famous last words....) would be a manual super leg.....

Yup. If I could retrofit the damn hydro lifter I certainly would!

Told you there is this ghost car effect. After a week, you learn to ignore it.

No click clack? Were you blasting the stereo? Everyone complains of the constant clack clack of my gearchanging.

Am now stuck in Indonesia amidst the planes falling from the sky and the land rupturing under your feet. Man! I really miss my G....

That effect is simply because you have become accustomed to seeing it. First impressions are important for judging how it looks, a plain or ugly girl is still plain or ugly but after a while you get used to her appearance and forget about it. I always try to remember my first impressions as these are my gut reactions. For example when I first saw the Testarossa I said it was slab sided and ugly, it still is, nothing has changed, I have become accustomed to it but my opinion has not changed about it's styling. I can still see all the faults in the 599 as well...

Agree but pictures don't normally do enough justice. My first impression of the 599 in the flesh was "Gee, this thing looks much better than those published in the press pics, the proportions are much better in real life, and the car shows more aggression. The V12 exhaust note is even greater!"

Some girls are photogenic but look plain in the flesh... and vice versa.

and to top it off, your team loses to that bunch of dutch part-timers. maybe you should spend the rest of the week in bed! knowing our luck, we'll probably draw the mancs or chelski.

drove close to a thousand miles on the motorway and the only cars i saw worth talking about was stevie g's bentley continental gtc; a 360cs and a 599. disappointing! then again, the exotics are probably hanging around the king's road down in london.

45 minutes after getting off the plane, i was blasting around in my pcar. what an antidote...

    Or the.....

    Hold your horses!

A lighter, faster, more hardcore F430 is due this year, Ferrari boss Luca di Montezemolo hinted at the Geneva show.

In 2005, Maranello unveiled the F430 Challenge, a racing version which competes in the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo series. Enthusiasts have been eagerly anticipating a roadgoing Challenge, and Di Montezemolo's off-the-cuff remarks at Ferrari's Geneva press conference suggests we won't be waiting much longer.

'Before the end of the year, we will have a new car,' he told journalists. 'It will have a V8 and F1 technology. It will embrace the know-how of weight reduction and high performance learnt from our F1 experience.'

Although he didn't name the new car as the track-biased F430, the cylinder count and ethos – plus the fact that the Challenge has been on the horizon since 2005 – make a spiritual successor to the F360 Challenge Stradale nigh-on a certainty. It will go head-to-head with Lamborghini's Gallardo Superleggera, photographed exclusively in the April issue of CAR Magazine, out now.

Expect the production car to embrace much of the F430 Challenge's specification. The race car runs the regular F430's 483bhp 3.6-litre V8, but 225kg has been stripped out to lower the kerb weight to 1225kg. Weight reduction measures include a lighter windscreen, carbonfibre intake plenum cover and a new exhaust.

Race car features include a quick release steering wheel for fast exits, and centre locking wheels for quick changes. But some of its hardcore features – such as the carbon ceramic brakes, mechanical differential, track-honed suspension and dialled back electronics – should filter through to the road car.

Expect the F430 Challenge to take a bow at Ferrari's 60th anniversary birthday party in June, or one of the autumn's motor shows.

I guess a lot of you would have received the email about Ben Low's resignation as the workshop manager at HSM. Does anyone know the reasons behind it and where he is going? I for one certainly enjoyed dealing with him and always found him to be upfront and honest.

Also, going back to the St James Power Station query, I received complimentary membership of the Gallery Club (and a bunch of perks) thru HSM which might be what people have been referring to. I haven't tried it yet as I've been spending more time in Tokyo than Singapore of late, which was also behind my decision to sell my Maserati last week.

On the bright side though that means I'll be on the lookout for a new toy once this 50/50 Singapore/Tokyo thing (although its been more 20/80) is behind me. Any suggestions are more than welcome!

Now that's a surprise news? I didn't receive email about his departure yet so wonder who's next to replace him.....

So, that means Maserati owners do get the privilege as well.

How about a used BMW 3 series cabriolet/coupe? seats 4, won't hurt the pocket & easy to offload. Or a Boxster for two. If not just dial-a-cab.
