The top(red) and cam covers where painted..yes. As for the silver alum, that was not, just cleaned and scrubbed the old fashioned way mostly to take the grease and grim out. It looks extra clean also because all the hoses and clamps are new, plus all the bolts. If you look carefully its that detail that really brings out the engine. I am amazed that most engines i see when they take them out and do belts and vlaues etc would reuse and put the old bolts back on. For a few extra bucks, its money well spent, and the view is beautiful. Thanks fellas. (But i didnt do any of this, my mechanic did it all like it was his own car)
Hey Big Red, Here's why I took my old belt from Rachel, and mated it to my GARFIELD EXOTICS (that's me) belt buckle. If you would like "a belt" made from "your belt", PM me and I'll get back to you with the info. Cheers, Hank Image Unavailable, Please Login
ROLMAO !! thats just fantastic !! Sure PM me the details, i should be getting her back this weekend with all my used stuff. Vasco, your just mean.....I dont like you anymore.
Nice job Red. What would something like that set you back? I know the what the 8s usually cost but never heard the cost of an engine out for the 12s.
BTW gang, If you're wondering how the belt buckle compares to the real deal, here's a side by side photo for ya. Cheers, Hank Image Unavailable, Please Login
Was fine, nothing to report. All was well. Rear Suspension, boots, brakes, brake lines, calipars, rotors all good.
There are a few too choose from here in Toronto, but the one stop shop that does all resto on all fcars, and he only touches fcars in his shop. I actually like the personal service, i can drop in at any time and look for myself piece by piece if i want. Family owned and they take pride in every piece of detail, he is also onthis board. Its Rocks Auto in toronto 416.686.8700, he also has a large selection of parts for things you would never think of for an fcar.
+1. Rocco's is old school service and a terrrific guy. It's very hard to find this kind of personal service in any field. Rocco has it in spades. He's the kind of guy who takes a personal interest in your project. He walked me through several procedures on the phone then declined payment. They don't come any better than this guy. If I lived in Toronto all my servicing would be done by him. Plus he's got great taste in cars...I understand he owns a 308 gt4.
Yes he does! Pardon my blue pics....that's how I like em LOLL (Rick not a word from you). Image Unavailable, Please Login
Ensure you actually time the camshafts. Lining up any production marks or marking them and reinstalling in the same position is nowhere near close enough and the car will run terrible. Degree wheel and dial indicator are a must to properly time the car as well as setting the valve clearance properly for measurements and returning it to running specifications after. Good luck.
