Yes, but the F355 was such a huge success, and everyone loves the car because it's beautiful and has spectacular performance, there's so much demand for it now, and probably for years to come...
just wait when the service hits for those 355s casue there running the corner of 10yrs now....there gonna come tumbling along with the flood gates after 15rs when Euro and US cars become available. There were 12,000 cars built....thats a pretty large number. As for the 360, maintence is to be less because the the engine doesnt have to come out, but again 15,000 plus cars. The 430 expected out is to be 18,000cars be end of the production run...now there are chains, no belts...these may hold a bit longer, hard to tell. Conclusion.......wait and see... IMO, i think the 550s, and 575 will hold, but the 355 and 360s will tumble, the only wild card is the beloved 348....we may see the day where the 328 will be the all the craxe and the 8 to have because the rest are expensive to maintain, and of the high production numbers. I say this for the 355, this because there are too many good super cars out there now for that price range..Pcars, Lcars,GT40s, Zo6s gonna be hard to get people to part with a slower car for more money, just look at the bath the 348 has taken. They are fetching 40-50K US right now. Its a coming.....and its a coming down !
Bite me, you hoop-licking Pokemon. Walking is a pleasure and I'd have to f*cking kill myself if I lived in the 'burbs.
I like the 348 but if you look in the auto trader same ones have been listed since last summer, what that tells me people are not willing to pay that kind of money anymore. And for the 355 & 360 we are not at the end of the deprecation cycle yet specially the 360 with the high production numbers, but the mint ones with up to date service records will always command that extra buck.
No kidding....those Toronto guys don't even know what fresh air smells like, come up to Vaughan and see what living well really is! I try to stay north of Steeles as much as possible........when are they gonna put a border patrol there anyways??
We are on the verge of a big price change in the F-car market. Its goona be interesting to see which way it goes. With the number of 360's on the market and the small number of 355's it will be interesting to see what happends to both cars once the 355 hits 15 years old.
You know what? I've had enough of you. Keep playing with your Pokemons with the pre-teens in your neighbourhood.
Might not be a hybrid, but an ethanol-powered 1,018 HP car is nothing to sneeze at: http://www.topgear.com/content/news/stories/1655/
Funny, I try and stay south of Eglinton. Hopefully soon! And Rick, is there ANYWAY to retract my vote!?
I'll play with the Pokemons, but you can keep the pre-teens. Sicko. Stay outta this V! I'm tellin' ya! Or at least use newer pics, you played that one out in no time.
The price on the 355 has softened but this past winter they did not take the normal winter dip in price as they have the last 2 winters. There were just under 12,000 built. I would say that at least 2,000 have been wrecked. Of the remaining 10,000, I would say that about half made it to North America. Now we are down to 5,000 cars in north america. Now over the past few years I have seen many in the Toronto area. Usually at shows and those are the best 355s. If you ever drop by FOO and check out some of the ones in the service area out back, you will find a lot of well used 355s that look like they were left parked outside over the winter. So if we take the 5000 in NA and lets say that 800 of those are in canada and of those 800 40% are nice buyable cars. That leaves us with about 320 355s in Canada that you would actually think of shelling out the doe for. Thats not many and as the years go by there will be less to choose from. Im sure my numbers are not right on but Ill bet that they are not far off. I have seen some of the cars that have come up here from the USA and believe me they are well used and abused. With new Ferrari prices Rocketing upwards lately I can only guess that the 355 wont be dropping much more. As for the 348 well that car is nice for some but not for most. The tail lights and door grills did nothing for that car, ferrari and their sales were dropping fast back then. It was the 355 that actually turned Ferrari arounnd and started to make them money again. I can still remember the road and track mag back in 94. I was at work when someone threw it in front of me and I was stunned by the look of that car. I am still in awe today when I look at it in my garage. I believe that the 355 has a timeless shape and will live on for a long time. As for the service cost. Well so you spend 5 to 9 thou every 5 years, big deal. The 360 is just as expesive to service infact removing the 355s engine alows the mechanic easy access for visual inspections on many other parts that are hard to see while the engine is in the car thus inableing more preventative maintenance. Great car and some great prices out there. If you find a good one buy it! Yes there are faster and cheaper cars out there but their not a Ferrari are they?
I would tend to agree with you, but there are less boxers, trs 328s out there when you use your numbers and these car prices has stablized. The 355 will still hit lower and harder just because of the shear numbers. The only reason why the 348 took a **** kicking in the early90s, was the recession around the world, and the Zr1 came to market, the NSX came to market, the 348 came up short in history, hence the bad rap. The 355 did not save ferrari...the economy picked up, and they built a car back that was better for the times in the market. With that said, nothing to take away form any 355/360 owners, but i think you may see the day when the 328, 348,355 become similar in price. as a matter of fact you may see the 328 become more expensive than a 348 .Look at 328 prices, they are the same as they were a few yrs back....i still think its all about the production numbers and thats why the 355 will fall more. Case in point this blk 355 at autoforum hasnt sold yet not because its not a good car, its over priced. If it had 30k its still overpriced. You can buy some real strong cars now for 100K....an 11 yr old ferrari aint one of them.
Ahhhhhh Vasco my friend...... I have many connections down on College St. too! I am not just a pretty suburb whore like the rest of them... I have roots in T.O... Now we're getting a subway up in Woodbridge, so we are being prepared for an influx of homo's and College St. scammers up here in da 'bridge.
No, Ferrari Spa and Ferrari F1 were in the dumps, no one was buying, especially in TO. They only had 2 models available, and both looked exactly the same. It was definietely a bad period for F, even Alfa R was going bankrupt, especially in North America when they pulled out around then. I remember going down to Gentry, and they couldn't get rid of them, My Father was able to take home a 512 TR for 2 weeks to try it out, and he didn't even bother with pursuing the purchase because it would've been a terrible $ loss like everything else at the time. Most F owners I know didn't buy any new F car between 1989 and 1994. Yes, because of a little recession, and also the fact that it just wasn't any incentive or glory with buying one at the time.
320-of 10+ year old 355 still asking well over $100,000 may be a bit expensive for a 8 cylinder Fcar.
