    Hello everyone,
On a wired LAN computer on my network, I don't seem to be getting internet, but I do have computers on Wi-Fi and they seem to work perfectly on the internet, and when I plug any other device into the Linksys router [WRT54G], it seems to work perfectly. The steps, I have taken to solve this would be retsarting computer, repairing connection, trying system restore, which didnt help, and disabling and enabling the LAN router. I even have tried reinstalling LAN drivers, and playing with the firewall, but that doesn't seem to work.

The weirdest thing is that when I plug the computer directly into the Cable Modem and not the router, it works fine. I don't know why.

    Any suggestions to this problem?

    thanks

How much setting up have you done on the Router ?

I have 2 WRT54GS's, and I use MAC Address filtering - the only thing that gets in is what I plug in to the MAC address table.
I trust you have done the Network setup on that PC, so it has the DNS of your Provider, etc. ? And you have plugged the PC into a different port on the router... and the wire is good... there are a hundred different things you can look at...

Do a hard reset on the router

    also

From your browser, log in to the router, see if it's getting internet input from the cable modem

    When connected to router

    http://192.168.1.1

    Username: <blank>
    Password: admin

If that doesn't work, try 'admin' for both fields.

Once connected, browse around the settings, make sure you don't have any strange security settings or anything. If you can't log in to the router, do a hard reset on it (push and hold in reset button four about 10 seconds).

    hahha!!
When I saw this thread title, I was going to post the same thing...

    To the OP,
Do you have windows firewall enabled? If so, shut that POS off. Also, did you install any software recently, like anti-spyware, etc?

No, if it's free, it's not worth having.

There is this free Anti-Virus that's f'n awesome though, Avast! Also, I keep Webroot Spy Sweeper running. It's a firewall of sorts, but won't stop an intruder from accessing your system, mainly for ads and spammers...

I actually do have Avast! on my XP computer, and I love it when I wake up everyday and it says "your virus database has been updated" :)
