Just seeing if there is interest in a spring tech session.... we were going to do one last fall, but construction plans and new baby got in the way. Baby went well, no construction... So, I offer my garage for another tech session, if there is interst. Date TBA, depending on interest. Dave? Andreas?
Dave and I discussed this and thought that it'd be neat to do a tech session in April. One of the topics could be seat removal for reupholstery. I volunteer my co-seat for a demonstration. But this is really Dave's baby so I let him comment.
Anyone interested in helping me replace my dash and console and rewiring in new replacement gauges? (Now don't forget it's a replicar)
I'm interested.. Just one question.. is the tech session only going to be about a single Ferrari or is it about every Ferrari? Its cause I want to go there to learn more about the 360/F430.
Dave will put together the session, but that's normally based on older Ferraris, in particular the 308. He knows a lot, but I can't say how much he can tell you about the 360/430.
Mike Z (spike308) & I made a plan today via phone to hold a tech session at his "mega" garage in Winneka, IL. The best date in April we could come up with is Sunday, April 22nd at 10:30 AM. I'll be making a formal announcement as soon as we work out the final details. The plan is to use Mike's 308 as a model, and do an engine oil & filter change as well as an undercarrage inspection which would include checking the clutch adjustment, brake lines & hoses. Time permiting we could also check the brake pads. Andreas wants to remove his front seat which should only take a few minutes to do. Dave
I'm game! I know I stood you guys up last year but I could use the session. I'll make sure to take off that day if I'm scheduled for work. Also, the session sounds as if it would be one that would maybe hold true to most vehicles as far as inspections go.
I'd love to help Rick, am kinda tied up with the GTO, but as weather breaks I hope to have more time and room for this stuff. The stock Vette dash comes apart pretty fast and easy. Chelle
Whew, the only thing I know about electricity is that, you never want to let the smoke out of the wires, it's the magic that keeps everything going. Plus, I don't fit under dashboards too well anyway.
How about seat removal and installation of racing seat. I have one on order and I would love some help!
Billiam, remember when you got in the Diablo, and we weren't sure you were going to be able to get out?
Dunno what your seat is, but a relatively easy way to fit a different seat is by attaching the rails to the new seat instead of installing new rails to the car.
Thanks for the offer Chelle. Taking the dash apart is the easy thing. Getting the new one to fit and all related plumping of duct work is another. My biggest concern is adapting the Fiat gauges to the wiring harness and making sure they work properly with sending units. But willing to try to tackle it. Plan to start in early April when weather breaks. Decided to finally put it in and update the interior with new carpeting, Challenger style seats and racing harnesses. Hopefully should be a big improvement over the stocker look it currently has. Talk to you at the carting event. maybe I'll bring the dash along.
Yes, very well. I also remember the times I got behind the wheel of Miuras and Countachs, they're as bad. 250TDF- no, Lotus Europa, yeah right ! and on....
Just an OMP seat. Yes should just bolt right to the original sliders with a side mount plate. I don't assume anything will be easy with Ferrari!
While I have learned that lesson myself, it is even more amazing how difficult stuff is on a car that pretends to be a Ferrari. It's like reengineering the simplest things all over again. My window wiper project is now in its 2nd year.
Just an FYI, I don't know where this session will be held. So, Spike308, can you PM me with an address? I can do a mapquest from that. Thanks
PM's will be going out... This will have to be a "Good Bye" session... (for my garage that is!) we bought another house (same general area). Not moving till end of summer. "downgrading" to a mere 2 car garage.... but alas, there is room to build! Donations will be accepted!
Now that I have a working computer again, here's the details for next Sunday's April 22nd "tech session" at Mike Z's house in Winnetka. I can provide the address and or directions by PM request. -The tech session starts at 10:30 AM. -The FOC will sponsor a small luncheon. -We will use Mike's lift to do an engine oil & filter change on his 308 GTS QV and inspection of under body components. This should cover it. I'll post any updates if needed. Can we get a head count? Thanks, Dave
I plan on being there. (1) Will bring the 328 as well. Getting a new sound system and it needs to be broken in correctly.
My Birthday was today, but one of my sisters is having a get together for me next Sunday. I can try and make it, as I need to get some invoices from a couple of people. I can't say for sure I'll be there till I know what my sister's plans are for me. The Buck Stops Here, Skip
I'll be there. I'll bring my new air flow tube for the engine. Maybe we'll have time to install that.
I'm in. I'll probably be taking the Mondi out to her first event since the make-over. Please add me to the PM list because I dont have the address.
