Thanks for all your opinions on the last 348 I was asking about, but I think I am going to pass on that one. So here goes another one were I could use your help. I would like to have my First Ferrari in my garage soon.

I found the following 1990 348TS 18K miles for sale near me and would like your opinions on it also.

    http://motorcars-of-georgia.ebizautos.com/detail-1990-ferrari-348-ts-the_bimmer_store__motorcars_of_georgia_llc__-1517517.html

It appears to be in very good shape and it has soom extras like Tubi, spacers,
etc. Everything is supposed to be fully functional. The miles apear to be correct according to the car fax. The only problem is that they have no records on the car. YuK! They are only 10 miles from Ferrari of Atlanta so I could have it inspected there atleast. What do you think the car is worth??
Should I just pass as there are no records on it? After a bit of haggling they are willing to let it go for $45500. TIA

Looks to be in very good condition cosmetically. The driver's seat looks better than mine, plus it has drilled pedals and the custom shift knob. Low miles are a plus, and if they will allow FoA to do a PPI I would go that route. The interior plastic is probably sticky, but that is easily fixed. Looks like a winner!

Clean car, but it looks to me to be slightly over priced at $45.5K. The earlier models are less desirable. Also, the engine cover should be painted black by the window, I think. That price is more of a 1992 price. This assumes it needs nothing. With no records available either they are hiding something (like the fact that it needs a major) or it really is a mystery. I cannot believe an 18K mile car has no records. Low mileage cars go hand-in-hand with owners that keep meticulous records (like me). Ok, I don't log every penny I put in, but I keep receipts for headlights, wheel bolts, battery, bulbs, etc. (OK, I'm Type A OCD) :p

So, the PPI becomes crucial. If the car needs a major, figure u need to knock $5K off the price. It's the dealer's responsibility to prove that the services are current. If not, then they suffer the dimunition in value.

Actually the price of $45,500 is after reducing it for a major. So is it still to high? What would be resonable? No records really bothers me, but I like the car. Thanks, Tom

Yep too high. Drop it another $5K. $45K is on the high side of market for that car if the work was done. Figure if u get the dealer to do it, his cost is significanlty less than the $5K it would cost you, so the discount isn't really that much if they complete the service (assuming they are authorized and capable of doing the full major). Either way,

    GET THE PPI!

I think a 1990 18k mile car with recent 30k service and history should fetch about ~$50K. Deduct 6K for service and 44k is a decent price assuming that the PPI checks out.

For car such as this, a PPI is an absolute must as there is no record of anything being done to it. You need to make sure the clutch is not slipping. Also check the carfax to see if there are any records.

Big ticket items are 30k service($5-6K), clutch work ($1-2k) and tires ($600-900). These add up quickly and make what seems a bargain car become expensive. If you buy, you would need to change all the fluids as a precautionary measure.

The exterior looks nice. The interior. No engine pics though. The spacers will fix the handling issues.

Looks like a good buy to me. If you are going to Atlanta to look at the car take a 348 owner fchatter with you - scaledetails lives there if I am not mistaken.

Get Stephanne "ScaleDetails" to look at it if at all possible. No records is no problem if you can buy it right and immediately do a 30K service. $42K would be my tops, though, because you're going to turn around and spend $6-8K on it getting it right.

Stephane goes by scaledetails on Fchat. Look up his username in the resources pulldown and send him a PM.

Looks good - but strange that there's no records: so assume the worst for all maintenance including belts, clutch, fluids.

Also strange that you don't get a picture of the stuff that really matters, what's under the rear, and repainted, deck lid. Ferrari's are cheap cars with very expensive suspensions, engines, and transaxles :D

Why was the rear deck repainted, was there accident damage repaired out of insurance (lots of them are).

Have a look by someone who knows these cars and doesn't have a conflict, and could be a great car!
