I wasn't going to buy a Playstation 3 till now...F1 fans check this out!!!

i cant wait till FROZA MOTOSPORTS 2 comes out i saw thr trailer and the games looks really fun

 

I hear it's a fun game, however all the recent trailors that have come out for it have been lacking one thing, Ferrari cars. I'm not sure if they were pulled from the actual game or not, but if they were I certainly wouldn't buy it. I wish xbox would get an F1 game until then I guess Forza will have to make do.

 

The only reason I would buy PS3 right now, is for the F1 game,but $700 for system and game is a little pricey.

 

This game is the #1 reason for why I'll buy a PS3 as soon as the prices have stabilized. The game features all F1 teams, including Ferrari. And I don't think this will ever come out on XBox360. Sony has exclusive rights.

#2 reason for a PS3: GT4 in HD. It is a remake of the already amazing sim now for the HD resolution. Unfrigginreal.

#3 reason for a PS2 or PS3: Just discovered this little gem today: Golden Age of Racing. It is basically Grand Prix Legends for the PS2. Not as complete if compared to the plethora of add-ons for GPL, but the core of tracks and cars is there. Once I've tried it out, I'll post a report. Just based on the looks it should be great.

 

I have it ( Formula One Championship Edition) and it looks good (not great) and sounds good and has all the drivers etc. but it (completely) lacks feeling. It is like driving on ice but with grip. You just can't feel how much grip you have. And you really can not tell how hard you are braking. I have not had a lot of time to play it but I have found that the better you drive the better it feels. There is a demo of this game available for download and I would highly recommend trying it first. I would not buy the system for this game but I would recommend the system to anyone.
Download the demo of Gran Turismo HD and MotorStorm. GranTurismoHD has amazing visuals and feels great. Unfortunately it will not be released as a full game but GranTurismo5 will be out in 2008. Motorstorm is an off road racing game which, as it is not a simulator as much as a game, is not what I am normally interested in, but this game has amazing feel, huge impacts and 135 different vehicles including rally cars and semi's and everything else in between.
The other great thing about the PS3 is that it is a BluRay disc player. Movies on BluRay are stunning (HD 1920P) with amazing sound, they are, along with the HDD discs, the highest quality HD available at this time. Much better then over the air or cable or satellite. And you can use your PS3 as your wireless internet Audio/Video download hub. It is actually a bargain for what it can do.

 

For those with XBOX360's, I believe IIRC that Sony has exclusive rights to F1 games, so we won't see them made for anything other than the PS3 (not even the PC, right?)

Is it true that Ferrari is not in the game???? Very disappointing if so.

I'd also like to hear some other reviews of the game because the only reason I planned to get a PS3 was this game.

 

I saw that game at best buy, it almost makes me want to buy a PS3.

Which game are you talking about? If Forza, yes, there are Ferraris. All the ones that were in Forza 1 plus the F430 and I don't know if more; also remember that with updates cars will be released...

F1 championship rocks in 720p, looks amazing. Game is really solid especially online. Has the whole 2006 car line up and some vintage ones that can be used in Time Attack mode.

I was told by the salesperson that a steering wheel is not yet available for PS3. Is that true?

 

I have been playing this religiously for the last week now. The career mode is great. I started out as a Test Driver at Midland, but now, after switching between numerous teams, I'm finally first driver at Ferrari. It's great fun online, too. If you guys have any questions, just ask.

yup they have the rights to Ferrari and well finally Lamborghini
alot of the same cars in the second one as well as some amazing new additions
the trailers and screenshots that have been released have not been finalized graphics wise
they still need to use more layers and more rendering
when released its gonna look incredible

 

F1 on PS3 is the only option, not available on PC or XBox360.

The Logitech steering wheel for PS2 works on PS3, USB connection.

You MUST have a steering wheel with force feedback or you won't feel the car. Gamecontrollers are crap.

 

When I have a spare $900 lying around I'll get the PS3/F1 game/Logitech wheel lol.

 

It might sound like a lot but compared to what a decent PC with graphics card etc costs, a good deal. When EOArts had the license for the PC I found myself buying a new PC every year to have the hardware that could match the power of the software. A new PS3 is still the least expensive component of my F1 sim and this will be enough for the next few years.

Yes, you can play it online. It is great, I play it every day.

 

I just wish the contract with Sony would end already!! Another bad decision by Bernie and friends. A fully licensed PC game would blow away anything a PS3 game would have to offer!!! Not just graphical wise but community wise aswell as per GrandPrix series era.

I have it and I love it. First off you need to turn off the drivers aids. Then you will build up feel as you play more. The cockpit view is lots of fun. I love playing with the wings and changing the cars setup as well.

 

Because it's based on the 2006 season, is Spa missing? Is there any way to add it?

 

Is there a simulation mode? Like in the xbox 2001 game?
