Just out of curiosity, do you own/have the initial design concept drawings and sketches? and how many are there?
http://yowmodelli.com/webshop/tkxcgi/shop/shop_index.cgi Jim, since you own all intellectual property of P 4/5, why do companies still announce their plans to sell a model of your car without expecting legal ramification?
Fantastique!!! As a minor aside a few historical details were wrong. The NART car at Daytona in 1967 was a 412P not a P 3/4. There was/is only one P 3/4 0846 and it's the car that finished 1 oa at Daytona in 67. P4 0856 finished 2nd followed by 412P 0844. Best
Forgive me for asking Jim but I didnt realise the P3/4 was a one of a kind, if anything i thought there would be a few of them. I'm more of a modern day supercar enthusiast as opposed to classic but I admire your interest in everything. The P3/4 is the red one with gold wheels, correct? The one that I think i read in a previous post was converted to have the roof off/on at some point? So there is only one of these? What about the yellow one and also the blue one i have seen pictures of? Are they as rare? Many thanks and hope all is well Matthew fae Scotland
This was scanned in from an article in the February 6, 1967 New York Times. Beautiful photo, no? Image Unavailable, Please Login
The yellow car 0850 is a 412P as is 0854. 0846 was/is the only P 3/4 ever made. Simply 412P's have P3 chassis and customer P3 engines with Carbs not FI. 0846 P 3/4 has a P3 Chassis and a P4 motor P4's have P4 chassis and P4 motors. Photos of P 3/4 0846 and 412P 0854 Cheers Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
It's interesting to note that 0846 and 0856 used Firestones and 0844 used Goodyears. The P3/4 went through 10 sets of tires in the rear and 3 in the front during the race. Union-Pure Oil, now known as Unocal, supplied the fuel.
I've actually been looking for a good quality print of that to hang. If you happen to know of a store that has one for sale, let me know.
Try these people got a ger P3/4 poster black and white http://www.vintageautoposters.com./inner_page1.php?cat_id=3
Thank you, I checked with the owner but they don't carry it nor do they know where I could locate one.
Thanks Jim, thats made it clearer for me. So do you also own 0850 and 0854? Correct me if I'm wrong but both are 412P's and 0854 is the blue one? How many of these exist, just a rough guess would do? The P3/4 is simply stunning as is the P4/5 and in my opinion the end product is perfect. Must be quite something to own and drive such an important and beautiful piece of history. Regarding the black and white picture posted, what cars are in it, 0846? Thanks, Matthew
Hi I own 0846 and 0854. 0854 is being restored back to photo I posted. (Brands Hatch #9) 0850 is Yellow. B&W is the finish at the 1967 24 of Daytona. 0846/0856/0844 Cheers
Tru Dat Dawg. Doesn't seem like they are too fond of it anyway, yet they would still be driving it if they had the money. Contradictory, no? That delivery picture deserves a place in the car transport thread. Peter Hatch
