Just wanted to inform everyone ordering a 599 or anyone who has a 599 going into production. The 20" Monolithic (Challenge) Wheels have been delayed until Fall of 07. If anyone has ordered this option on the car you will be receiving the standard wheels instead. I just received this notice from my dealer as I have a car going into April production. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up. This is just what I have been told, it is direct from a US dealer.

I was told the delay applies only to cars built from June onwards.
I also have April completion and was told Challenge wheels will be on my car.

Isnt the Carbon Ceramic Brakes mandatory option in the US and arent the Challenge wheels mandatory with the mandatory Carbon ceramic option ??

If yes, then what happens ?

All I can say is that Ferrari called on my car that was scheduled for an April completion and I had Mono's selected (which was actually a mistake as I didn't want them from the beginning) and Ferrari said that the car would come with the standard wheels. They had said that Monos were delayed till Fall.

I would have your dealer check with Ferrari NA and verify for sure that your car will have the wheels.

CCBs are a mandatory option in the US, titled America's Package, and both standard and challenge wheels will fit the brakes, as far as I know.

Thank god my car made the cut. Challenge wheels look like modern interp of Borranis of our old cars.
Satanic icons look like bad Nissan Pulsar wheels.
Hey again, Andrew. Car is status 30, in paint shop. Factory sent me pics of interior in progress. The green and purple look great together ;)

I was at dealer the other day and they had 2 599s, one with stradale wheels/CCBs and one without/steel brakes. What a difference it makes on that car. The stradale wheels and CCBs are an absolute must.

Wheel maker BBS is very near recievership.

I have no doubt it may be affecting their ability to deliver wheels to the many OEMs they serve, and the Ferrari contract is by comparison small, so it will fall to the bottom of the list. The bigger volume (higher margin) wheel contracts will get fullfilled first as BBS' finances are thin at the moment.

Speedline went bust a few years ago too. Looks like the wheel business is not easy. Glad my car has the 20" monolithic wheels. I hate the standard wheels

Even though my dealer assures me that mine will have 20"s,I will be a little bit nervous until I see it myself...
