To all the experts out there...

As many know, my 2000 360 with 10K miles was delivered about a week ago.

I was just looking at all the manuals and reading some service receipts. I have a service receipt from Penske & Wynn Ferrari in Las Vegas that details some work done on 12/19/2006. I believe some major and a few recalls. Can anyone comment on the services done below? Are most of these part of a major service?

    1) 190042 Timing Variators Warranty
    2) 192920 LH Hydraulic Tension Warranty
    3) 184986 Timing Control Belt Internal
    4) 201446 Alt & Water Pump Be Internal
    5) 201454 P/S Belt Internal
    6) 201236 Belt Dayco PV-K Internal
    7) 177055 Can Gasket Internal
    8) 185234 Screw BX 50 Warranty
    9) 205693 Screw BX 30 Warranty
    10) CAMP 97 Cam Variators Per Camp 97
    11) CAMP 148 Repaired connector per CAMP 148

My clutch seems to be working fine. When do they clutches usually need replacement?

If I go to any Ferrari delalership, should they be able to pull up all records done to the car? I just want to make sure any recalls or potential issues were fixed.
If I give the VIN #, does anyone on this forum have access to pulling up its documented service records?

I'm thinking of getting a 3rd party inspection just to be safe. I rather be preventative that wait for something to go wrong.

    Thanks!

What that all means is that the variator campaign was done and that covers line 1,2,8,9,10. On them (internal) they changed the timing belts, ancillary belts and a cam cover gasket (without looking it up probably one of the small ones on the rear. They also did the OBD 2 connector campaign. A dealer is not allowed to make a claim for a campaign or regular warranty work unless all recalls and campaigns on that car are done.

None of those items except the belts are part of a major and a major includes far more that that.

What did the mechanic that did the PPI tell you about all this?

" A dealer is not allowed to make a claim for a campaign or regular warranty work unless all recalls and campaigns on that car are done. "

I'm assuming when you say this, since they were able to claim warranty and campaigns on the service records, then the recalls were completed prior, correct?

It means that at the time of that document there were no outstanding recalls or campaigns.

Again, didn't the guy that did the PPI fill you in and check for outstanding recalls or campaigns?

Interesting that the "internal" charges didn't include the tensioner bearings? Why bump on another $500 eh?
Sounds like the variator replacement with a belt change at the same time, the labor breakdown would be more interesting IMO.

More interesting to me is that we are trying to close the barn door and the horse is long, long gone.

I think that means it is too late to worry about it. :)

No, what I mean is we bought a car and are now trying to unravel its service history.

And instead of paying someone to do our due dilligence up front we want someone to do it after the fact for free.

Well, when a so-called reputable dealer says the entire service has been complete and they document it on their sale/ebay page, and then I have them take it to an actual Ferrari Dealership (not an independent) and they say everything checks out perfect with the services, by gosh, if you can't trust a Ferrari Dealership, who else can you trust? I have a business to run and out of the country most of the time so I have my dealer here make sure all is well. Unfortunately, that part fell through.

Anyways, I'm taking it to Ferrari of Houston next week and see what additional things are needed. Depending on the cost, I will decide whether to take legal action against the dealer. I have everything documented and the last time I checked, misrepresentation of a sale is not only a lie, it is also illegal, right? Thank God for the internet that I have all items documented.

It's not even about the money, I just hate liers!!

Luckily all belts and the recalls/campaigns are all up to date (changed in Dec 2006). Thanks to a great memberof this forum for assisting in finding that out for me. I just need to have them look at fluids/filters, etc.

I guess the PPI money I would have spent will go towards this, and of course, will probably be a little more.

In any case, I'm not going to let a few a$$h@les ruin my Ferrari experience. Bottom line, I love my car! ...in the end, that's all that matters!!!

    ...just a follow up...

I wanted to say thanks to Lamborghini of Houston for stepping up and taking care of me, knowing my situation.

Richard and his crew were awesome and performed a full major service on my car.

At least I know where I'll be taking my car in for service when I need it ---> Lamborghini of Houston.

    Thanks guys!!

    ro:

don't go to FOH. i bought my car from them and paid more for it just because i had comfort that i was buying from an authorized dealer rather than an independent dealer or individual. however, post sale service has been terrible. issues which i had with the car since before i purchased it (no CD changer cartridge, cigarette lighter not working, etc.) still havent been taken care of by them and they just avoid the subject.

most importantly, i still have not gotten the promised service history documentation on the car and it's been almost 3 months! i even asked for it when i went by there last week and they said that they're still working on it.

the service manager is a nice guy, but their pricing and amount of time they need to do a job are out of this world. i dont know if this is normal, but to do my next belt service, they need to keep the car for a "minimum" of 2 weeks.

i'm gonna go interview the independent local shops in town and pick one to use. maybe we can use the same...
