Does anyone had any pictures of 360 smoke taillight or using Novitec black taillight? Is it expensive to do it? Thanks
Here's one with smoke but not completely blacked out. Sorry for bad pic. it was taken with a camera phone. Image Unavailable, Please Login
By the way, above post was my 100th posting! Woo hoo! Here are some more I found. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I have seen both, there was a do it yourself on a mb forum about how to spray tint your tail lights ( i can prob dig it up if u want) and i have seen films, other are compleat replacement units that have been molded with a specific plastic. The latter of the three of course being more expensive
Any idea where i can buy the film kit but i would like to cover the whole taillight not like the one selling on ebay. Thanks.
I had the entire Novitec 360 package installed which included the rear lamp covers. I cannot recall the exact amount, however I can tell you that the cost for the 4 light covers was in the thousands, not the hundreds. My opinion was that they were obscenely expensive. Yes, thats INSANELY expensive. There is a high-end shop near me and he does tail lights for less than $200 on all types of cars. Professionally sprayed. You don't ever ever EVER want to spray your own tail lights, ESPECIALLY on a Ferrari. Your talking about the do it yourself cans that you can buy off Ebay, I highly advise you to stay away from those. 99% of the time it never comes out decent, no matter how many times you read the instructions. Just call around and get your lights professionally sprayed. Are you looking to buy tail lights already smoked, or smoke your own? You would save SO much money by getting yours done. I know it's Ferrari OEM but $2499 is on your way to a set of rims... compared to tail lights? That's crazy.
If you don't mind I have a question for you that has been bothering me about the Novitec rear lenses. One pair of the original (Ferrari) four lenses have built-in reflectors that obviously reflect red as the lenses are red. The Novitec replacements, if they are moulded the same as the originals but using a different (smoked) tint, would therefore not reflect red. Is this correct?
The Novitec black taillight is nice but how about the third brake light? If the car is red then that's ok but if the car is black does it look funny if the taillight is black but the third brake light is red?
No bother at all. When braking, the outer part of the lens turns red. The inner part actually turns blue. I have a picture at home that explains it a lot more clearly. I'll see if I can dig it up later today...
Ah, no. I am not referring to the illumination of the lenses under braking or when the sidelights are switched on. What I meant was when the headlights of someone behind reflect back (in this case from your tail lights). The Ferrari originals (one pair only) will reflect back RED because the lens is red, as the Novitec lenses are smoked and not red, they would not reflect back red. This is of course illegal. The 430, with different tail lights, has separate reflectors set into the bumper. BTW which is the "inner" part you are referring to?
Gotcha. At any rate, it seems I was out to lunch on several fronts. The 2 inner lenses appear black, as you mentioned, and of course is illegal. I had never been stopped for them, though. The outer 2 lenses appear red when driving. The blue I was referring to turned out to be a function of having the incorrect bulbs installed. Ignore that comment entirely, as the blue that appeared was rectified once I swapped the proper bulbs in. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
