    My 308 is 23 y.o. now . It is stored during winter and I wonder what is the best way to protect the door/window targa roof rubber seal from degradation? Thanks.

    Since you do not mention all the things that can happen to "garage queens," You should have it on a battery monitor, Drive it in good weather, and not park it near electric motors like furnace fans. That takes care of that aspect.

    To your real question regarding the rubber. Visit a marine supplier and look for a silicone rubber treatment. The marine environment is extremely harsh. Therefore, marine products are a bit better. Stay away from waxes like Armorall (sic). Also, contact the restoration guys. They probably know things I haven't begun to think of. Luck!

    I've been using glycerin for years with good results. Available in any drug store.

    Glycerin is the stuff to get...as Mike said, any drug store.

    Won't make a ton of difference though. Seals WILL rot and tear, no matter what you do. I replaced most of mine on my 78 308 GTS "garage queen" when I bought it....Then drove the snot out of it! :)

    I've heard that VASELINE is a good rubber conditioner keeps it soft and flexible as well as lubricant does'nt evaporates or dry out, has anybody tried this?

    When I saw that a couple years ago, I flipped! $28 for $3 worth of Glycerin...

    Ditto, I've been using it too.

    Years ago I used it on my RR windscreen seals and it softened them; made them pliable again.

    A small amount will last forever!

    With Zymol, you're paying for the name, not the product.

    I've used a number of Zymol products, and haven't found any of them to perform better than less expensive brands.

    Apparently, the rubber in tires and seals doesn't like the ozone created by electric motors. Happens over time. Ultraviolet light is an enemy also. That is why we cover the tires on boat trailers and RVs left stationary in the sun for long periods.
