Hi Guys I took the 1986 328 GTS yesterday for a run, I have noticed that when pulling up to stationary the tick over now stops at around 1500 Revs, I have to touch the trottle rev the engine then this goes down to just under 1000. Previous to this I have had no problems, can any of you guys shed some light on this, to point me in the right direction. Thanks Guys. Ash13
Check the floor mat is not interfering with the throttle pedal - most common cause of idling problems in 308/328s believe it or not!! Take the mat right out the car & see if its still happening. To be clear, its usually only over mats that cause this, not the original carpet. If its not the floor mat then start looking at the throttle mechanism around the throttle body & see if all is moving freely there & that the cable is not sticking. Also push gently on the mechanism to make sure the butterfly is actually closing properly on its own. If not remove the throttle body (disconnect the throttle cable & then 4 bolts if I remember) & investigate - you may find the inside of the TB is covered in black gunk that's preventing the butterfly from sealing/closing properly. Clean it all out using some carb cleaner & an old toothbrush & reassemble. If its none of the above then you may need to start investigating the pedal linkage but I'd be surprised if you had to go that far. Good luck - let us know how you get on. I. Iain, Def not the mats, thats the first thing I checked. Weather here at present snow showers high winds and really cold, so will have to leave till next weekend to complete further investigations. Thanks for the info Regards Ash13
