    I acquired a set of used alloys (18") only to discover that one of the wheels has a few gouges on the inner portion of the wheel (a couple on the lip and a couple where the wheel seats.

    using this diagram:

    (#2, #5)

    Just eyeballing this I would assume that this would give me problems with air leakage and that I might want to think about wheel repair (welding metal). But I don't know if I am overreacting.

    I personally dont think there would be an issue. :)
    But your best bet would be to take it to a tyre shop and get them to inspect. Maybe even get them to mount a tyre on the rim, take it home, put the wheel on the car (have the cars weight on it) and see if it leaks over night. Record the tyre pressure and see if any air has leaked out overnight or over a day or two. If no air has escaped, then you should be right. I reckon you would be, but I am not an expert. ;);)

    Exactly what I was thinking. i ran my finger over the one gouge to check for any sharpness or burrs. I didn't feel any but when the cars weight is sitting on the rim I didn't want any sharp edges digging into the tire.

    Cool mate. Try it out and see how you go. :):)
    You may not have a problem with the wheel as 1st thought. :)

    I don't see a problem.

    If there is slight leakage, which I doubt, a bead sealant can be used.

    I don't think TRs had tire pressure sensors. Bead sealant is ok. In cars with tp sensors, bead sealant is a no-no. But, you guys knew that.

    I took the rims to my tire guy, he didn't see a problem as far as air leakage since the area where the tire actually seats is below the scored lip. One thing, they wanted a mint to mount those two tires, $65 Extra to mount them since they were low profile tires. Is this true? How much do you guys pay to mount your high performance low profile tires?
