Did you see the live feed from the starting grid before the race? That poor guy couldn't get in to talk to anyone, and Flavio blew him off. Never seen that happen before. That was a great race! Holy flying David Coulthard batman. I think that new kid is the next big thing, personally. Hell of a race for a rookie.
No it wasn't David's corner. Alex had more than half of a car length on david while entering, it was Alex's corner. If david had more than half a length on Alex, then yes it would have been his.
Overall it was a very exciting race. LH's pass at the first turn, Massa's battle with Honda, Button's spin going into the pits, Kovalainen's spin, DC jumping over Wurz, and Sato finishing 12th!
i think it was a good race. Wurz get extremely lucky there. and common about the Kimi not smiling thing. what do u guys expect him to do? that Schumi jump on the podium? we all know Schumi celebrated every win like his 1st win, but IMO, Kimi has his own style. i can't even recall if he smiled when he was winning with Mac.. so no big deal..
Wurz almost getting hit in the head with a car made my heart skip a beat. That could've gotten very ugly very quickly.
+1 it was just inches away. edit : anybody noticed post-race, on the way to the podium, Kimi got a call? could it be MS himself?
Great race from Ferrari. Kimi doing what everybody expects him to do and Felippe making a good recovery. So everybody says there are no #1 and 2 drivers, including McLaren. I think today showed the opposite at McLaren. Hamilton had Alonso in his pocket all day until that last pitstop. Surprise, surprise. anyway, doesn't matter as long as they're behind Ferrari
Good job Lewis Hamilton, what record he he break for an Englishman? First one to get a podium in 41 years as a rookie?? Or some thing like that, i will have to watch the re runs. I knew he could do it. Proved him self as far as i am concerned.
Yeah, I noticed that too. Alonso's pitstop was about 2 seconds faster. On the other hand, when Alonso once got out in front, he widened the gap to about 10 seconds, so all in all, the faster McLaren-driver got to be runner up. But still, Hamilton did an absolutely amazing job. Pretty much faultless all weekend and always on the pace. It seems like this guy needs no time to adapt at all. Seem couldn't be said for Kovalainen though. His race was pretty much embarrasing. He is supposed to give Fisichella a run for his money, but today he wasn't a threat to anyone, apart from himself. He needs to concentrate. Let's see how he goes in Sepang. Mark Webber -again- couldn't match his qualifying speed. This guy is looking more and more like the next Trulli. Spyker was dissapointing as well. No speed for both drivers and Albers has been messing up all weekend. Now they don't have Super Aguri to battle against for a spot on the second to last row and Torro Rosso looking set to improve, they may well become F1's definitive backmarker-team. A lot will depend on the outcome of the legal battle concerning costumer cars.
According to Finnish media it was Schuey who called, but It was a bad line so Kimi couldn't really hear what he was saying. Also according to Finnish media, Kimi said he wasnt going at maximum attack at any point. Go Kimi GO !
thanx for the info. i suspected it was Schumi on the line, because, i think it was JT's phone. anyways, i'm dissapointed in Heikki. i really thought he's gonna blow Fisi away. but he made too many mistakes. compare him to say Button, 7 yrs ago and of cos, Lewis. no mistakes from either of them. i doubt the Renault is a handful car to drive. it just lacks the pace. Honda and Button screwed the entire race. actually it's Button. i think if he didn't held up Rubens, they could have scored a point today. i'm satisfied with the race today. i think the season's gonna be an interesting, open one.
Take a look at this screen capture -- and the protruding flat piece of carbon fiber in black at the bottom of the Red Bull. Wurz could have easily ended up decapitated. (not my capture, stole it from the Speedtv boards) Image Unavailable, Please Login
I think it is amazing that Kimi's lap times during the race were significantly faster than his qualifying time. Truly an amazing performance. I am sure he was taking it easy on the car towards the end. It was his race to lose after the last pit stop. I don't think he was sandbagging. What a driver. Going to be a great season. Lewis was setting some fastest sector times as was Alonso before the first pit stops. Truly incredible. He looks like he has the potential to be the next F1 super driver.
Jean Todt as quoted on F1racing.net: "I was very happy to get two telephone calls, the first from Michael as I was going up to the podium, which I handed to Kimi and the other from Luca di Montezemolo who was jumping for joy as if this was our first win in a decade. And indeed that is the feeling for us all!"
