What's so funny about that----So you say Rob banned me??? So he is the one who couldn't show me the common courtesy of a PM, a call, a email anything beforehand. I guess some cry louder than others around here. Oh well, what's done is done. Shows me and alot of others what kind of people are on this board. It is very unfortunate.... Glad I have some good buddies still here to make the most of our love and passion for the Ferrari!!!! Especially the 355!!!
Don't believe everything the pig says. Porky had a s-s-s-s-tttudddering problem becasue he was mentally conflicted. BT
Geez, some of you guys post the stupidest things. Think for once before you post or make conclusions. 285ferrari was banned 1 day for posting the exact same thread in 28 forums. I understand you probably didnt mean any harm, but what user has been around as long as you doesnt know you dont spam EVERY forum with the same thread!?! Why post info on a 355 Registry thread in EVERY regional forum. Imagine the crap we would have to go through if every thread was repeated in every forum, why have multiple forums? Just plain stupid, but stupid doesnt mean you did it maliciously, you just made a mistake. 1 day ban no big deal, no worries. If you have out of date account email or maybe a spam filter blocking system emails, then maybe you didnt get the notice. However, every banned user is sent an email with information on the ban. In the case you didnt get a notification, contact me personally and I can figure out anything and let you know. I guess public threads provide more drama though. How dare you 285ferrari attack me like that, we notify every banned user and I dont lack the gonads to talk with you, especially for something stupid like this. Now you are in worse trouble than the stupid spam posts in the first place.
Just my opinion, but I don't think the post was stupid spam--I have spent a great deal of money and my own time to make this registry be the best it can be for all to enjoy. Never received an email and the address is good because guys use it to send email through fchat to me about the registry all the time. It has been the same for 7 years now, never changed. I checked the definition of spam and sent it to dan360 showing that what I sent can in no way be regarded as spam. By posting in all those forums I was able to add 11 cars and received 17 positive PM/emails and thank yous from people who never knew it existed. That was all my intent was--to let people know it is out there and for use by anybody 24/7--I thought a warning, which I basically received from dan360, would of sufficed--I was wrong--I apoligize!
Sorry 285ferrari, but it is so obviously wrong and stupid to post a 355 Registry thread in 28 forums at once. I know you won't do it again, but the 1 day ban if anything is to make sure you don't continue double posting before we can talk.
Per the rules--yes it was wrong---stupid, I would disagree - I believe it is a great service having this registry and just to clarify, I believe it was 25 forums not 28... won't happen again in 2007!! It's over---now Noah can go back to looking at his girlie magazines--move along...
Wow 28 identical postings - I never thought about doing that! You were definitely larger than a "Blip" on their radar.
Well while I don't entirely agree - all I asked was for an explanation from the chief and he did so - and so, life goes on. ciao
Rob, I'm not attacking you or trying to make you look bad, but come on. Stupid? Why call his registry stupid? He takes great pride in that, and he should. He has devoted so much time to that registry with the intent of helping others. He even posted in this thread that in one of his threads that he started, someone replied that the mileage was lower then what he had. Turns out that the odo. could have been tampered with. Robbie helped that guy. He could have saved that guy some serious cash. This isn't like those other people who post multiple threads in different sections about a car they have for sale or a business they want to start. He wanted to spread the word of what he has created, and get more people to add their cars, look up cars, and cross reference info. I remember him saying that he created the registry so people could look up the history of a car, whether it be for a pending purchase or to see info about the car they currently own. So don't crap on his work. I know I wouldn't want someone to do that to me, and I'm sure you do not want someone to do that to you. And also saying that paying members post some of the stupidest things? I don't think they would talk to you or about you that way. Also Rob, what happened? You used to be a member here. You used to have a great time with everyone. You participated in threads throughout the board. Now, you only come on to ban people. I liked it when you could joke around and have fun with us. You've become a lurker with a ban button. I think that a lot of members who have joined in the past 6 months don't even know you started this place. I wish you would start posting more, and having fun, instead of what you have been doing. That is all.
Not to be above my station in saying this and I certainly don't intedn this to be an attack on you or expect you to 'defend' yourself in relation to this post (your webiste, your rules, I have no problem with that - you provide a stellar service IMO), but whilst I understand the necessity for the existence of rule 1.3, I feel that people who provide a valuable service that is free, such as the one Robbie provides could be cut a bit of slack. If I may be allowed, may I make a couple of suggestions, for example in the current setup of f-chat allowing Robbie with prior agreement of yourself/mods to open a thread in each of the area forums that is closed immediately, but has a link back to the original thread in the 348/355 section that highlights the existence of the 355 registry, or even opening a new forum of 'f-chat links' that could highlight the good, free services that people such as Robbie provide (a kind of sub-sponsors forum if you like) where f-chat subscribers (who have been a member for x months/have x number of posts, etc) could nominate services to be included and only those that have mod approval can be included (to avoid abuse, set it up so that members couldn't open threads themselves - only mods/admin). IMHO this is in the community spirit, and as it says at the top of the screen 'FerrariChat.com The Online Ferrari Community'. All this is afterall my humble opinion. Feel free to flame away...
I hate having to explain myself for things that should be obvious, but thats the way it goes. Does it matter if it was 25 or 28 forums? If you think so, then you are REALLY missing the point. I deleted 26 of the same thread through my admin functions, 2 other mods had already deleted 2 threads in their forums. When did I ever say 285ferrari 355 registry forum was stupid or bad? All I said is it is stupid to post the same thread in 28 forums. I talked to 285ferrari several weeks ago and encouraged him and welcomed him to promote it on FC. I think it is a great site and service. Promote in General and 355 to get a wide audience. To spam 28 regional forums is just wrong and any logical thinking user would agree. I think some of you have missed the point. Im not attacking ferrari355fi for the original mistake and a 1 day ban shouldnt be viewed as the end of the world. Big deal, it has been corrected and we move on. However, the ignorance in understanding the reason for not allowing 28 duplicate threads and the lack of respect towards me while I do what I think is best is disturbing at minimum. I have no problem with the thread in one or two places, but I have a problem with the duplication in 28 forums. Is that so wrong? Tell me if Im out of line and you want to see the same threads repeated in 28 forums.
I think Rob has made his point, I have made my point. Let the thread die and let's move on to the great love we have here for Ferraris!!! 355's RULE!!!
amen, can you at least respect my reason for not wanting 28 copies of the same thread? nothing personal to you, I think your site is great.
same thing happened to me with that chickens*it from FL and I didn't even post in the FL section. maybe now, but not when I got banned, not one damn word, not one warning, boom banned. Yes, only for one day, but its the principle and the mod who did it was WRONG and never had the decency, respect or gonads to apologize or admit he was wrong.
Since day 1 a user receives an email automatically when banned, we don't have a choice, it just does it. It is not our fault if you haven't kept your email address updated or your ISP/email filters our system generated emails. You are barking up a tree with no Raccoon, but some dogs just like to bark. Banned/guest users are always able to email me through Contact Us if other communication chains break down.
be that as it may, robbie didn't get an email nor did I and i didn't change ISPs and I always check the spam filter just in case......rehashing old news, but my opinion of that FL azzhat hasn't changed nor how the situation was handled. moving on to other threads.....
May not be Rob's fault, but there must be a problem with the banning notification system thru email. I have heard several people say they were not notified about a ban before it took place. One or two--maybe, but more than that and the email notification system must not be working properly. May be something that needs looked into to correct...
I think this is part of the Patriot Act. Web site forum operators are considered terrorists today if they perpetuate 'bad' info being passed along. It is probably a setting adjusted by Rob's service provider (the Central Scrutinizer aka Big Brother) to keep him out of Guantanimo. I'm putting myself at great risk for even letting this information out, I hope the central scrutinizer doesn't catch me! Joe (from the garage).
It has been a problem and I've looked into it for years, but more from the perspective of getting activation emails to users after registration, email change, or password change. I spend much of my day confirming identities and manually activating users that never found the activation email. Some percentage are users that enter an incorrect email or don't keep it updated. The others are ISP's, firewalls, and filters on the receiving end. There are a few things you can tweak on the outgoing server, but after years of looking in-depth it is mostly the fault of services you are paying for that are blocking emails you want to receive. What other emails are you missing, you wouldn't know many times unless the person contacted you otherwise, they just think you are ignoring them. Last year we were having a big problem with Comcast users and it took dozens of emails from their customers and sometimes after getting it fixed, the problem just returns a few months later. Comcast users never got any notification someone was trying to contact them or throwing a notice into spam folder, they just wouldn't deliver even after adding my email to their accepted list. I don't know how many other dozens of ISP's do the same thing, but I know about 20% of the 1,000 new users a month never get activated.
