I'm planning a "classic car guy" trip to Germany and Italy for myself and a friend.
Anyone see any collections, museums, etc I'm missing?

I realize the Ferrari Factory tour is not included here. It would require wasting most of the day before and I'm really not that interested in watching robots work.

If you are going to the Porshce museum in Zufenhausen, then you should stop by the Mercedes Benz factory museum. It is also very close to Stuttgart, accross the river in Unter Turkheim.
Also, the Auto-Salon-Singen, in Singen Germany should not be missed. There is also a Factory Ferrari dealer down the street. It is near the German/Swiss border. The largest town is Konstanz,DE.

It's hard to tell someone else in a sense, what to like. But assuming you're a fan of vintage Ferraris, you cannot go all that way and not stand in front of the factory gate, see the Galleria Ferrari, and have a meal at the Ristorante Cavallino. Granted, "our cars" aren't inside the gates. But they sure are at the other places. Driving a few laps on the legendary Nurburgring Nordschliefe (or even riding in the famous BMW-sponsored ring taxi) is similarly unforgettable.

    Jim,

Your itinerary seems very complete. The Schlumpf Collection in Mulhouse is especially nice. (I've often wondered what would happen to Bugatti values if the collection was put up for sale.) Have a wonderful trip!
