Being in the US, most races are in the early morning so more often than not my drink is coffee but on occasion I've had a breakfast beer. In the past I've raised a Foster's in recognition of its place as F1's Official Beer. I've heard that Foster's is more of an American desire than Australian and this was reaffirmed with PAP 348's view of the taste as "warm wombat piss." I'm assuming this is not a good thing!

With the Australian GP televised on Saturday night I made a beer run and discovered another Australian beer, "Coopers Brewery Best Extra Stout." I found it a bit strong at first but by the second I had acquired the taste. Any thoughts on this brew from the Australian contingent?

I thought it would be fun to have a beer native to the country/region hosting each weekend's race. The store where I found the Coopers also had Perino from Italy; is that a good choice for the Italian GP? Sapporo for the Japanese GP? Any Indy micro brewers for the US GP?

Anyone know of any beers with driver or race team connections? I know of a few for wine, Andretti and Richard Childress (NASCAR) both come to mind.

    Cheers!

All Fchatters could drink the same beer during the race. Togetherness. :)

You name it, I'll drink it.

Malaysian beer? That could be hard to find in the rockies.

Never associated motor racing with getting pissed ...

... just like I have never gone to a pub and raced around it in a car.

My new favorite beer (well, ale, actually): Cooper's Sparkling Ale. It's outstanding. Pretty hard to find on the east coast so I hoarded a couple of cases. I understand Outback Steakhouses will be selling it soon, if they don't already.

Gotta agree with PAP. I've been to Australia where Foster's is not high on the list of favorites among the natives. They seem to prefer "bitters" like XXXX and some others I can't remember anymore. I don't care much for Fosters either.

"KickBeer" is brewed in Malaysia using German techniques according to the website. Initially it says you have to be non-muslim and 18 to view the site so no cheating now! Chang beer is Carlsberg in Malaysia and Tiger also is brewed and sold in Malaysia as well as Thailand. Lot's of choices. Now let's try and find a Bahrainian(sp?) beer.

Thanks for the suggestions. Tiger is imported by Anheuser-Busch so there is good chance I can find it locally.

No offense to the brews of the southern hemisphere, but my buddy is a exec at Bud and his opinion was that any beer that crossed the equator in the hold of a boat was subject to damage due to the heat.

I agree. I have kegerator setup at home. Beer have to be fresh and not baked in the heat for it to taste great. I did switch to local brew http://www.govnors.com/ because I get it straight from the brewing tank. and it taste way better than Heineken that took a beating during the trip to local store.

For Malaysia I found Tiger at a local grocery store. I also noticed the store carries Singha, which appears to sold in Bahrain...
    http://www.singhabeer.com/distributors_oceania.php

Since it doesn't seem anything is brewed in Bahrain (at least legally) it looks like Singha is the winner.

    Any thoughts on Spanish beers?

When watching F1, a Ferrari fan should drink Italian beer, if beer is the drink of choice. I prefer Moretti La Rossa. It's a double malt, hi gravity. Very Tasty!!

Thanks, I'll look for it locally, plenty of time before Monza. If no luck I'll probably go with Peroni, which I've found in a couple of places.

Moretti and Peroni are both found here...sometimes I have to fetch some to ponder Italian engineering...it seems to help..

Foster's in US is brewed here, or Canada under license, IIRC

For USGP they only have Foster's and Miller. Don't get the Foster's if you are having as many as I do, don't let the 24 Oz. cans tempt you! Don't stop, just run away! Lesson learned first year, Miller isn't my favorite beer, but at USGP you'll be a lot better off with that than Foster's. As everyone has said, Foster's really isn't that popular in Australia, I think we drank something like Triple X when there, hmm, maybe my mind leaves me and confused with King's Crossing. Oh well. :D

So NASCAR? To my knowledge there is no Official Wine of F1! Am I wrong? (bracing for massive spiteful replies "yes")
Besides, have you ever tried fittin' a six-pack of boxed wine into the cooler? They don't leave any room for the vittles!

Coors is always transported in refrigerated trucks.

At the CIA (Cullinary Institute of America) you can buy shirts that say Friends Don't Let Friends drink White Zinfandel :)

I am late to this thread and a tiny bit off topic, but I do wonder how
    PAP knows?

On race mornings I recommend you skip the beer and get a good port wine :)

I'm sure he knows in much the same way we in the states know the taste of canine fecal matter, i.e. "this steak tastes like dog sh*t!"
