My 85 QV has an Ansa Exhaust. Its a bit tired and the header pipe on the front has been welded many times (im assuming because of cracks) And the whole thing is pretty ratty.

The car runs fine, and I can probably salvage the tips and clean them up a bit. The car has no cats.

    Should I ...

    1. Go back to stock set up so the engine management works?
    2. Replace with a new ANSA or other brand.
    3. Just drive it like I stole it, seeing as nothing is really wrong with it, it just looks crappy from under the car when its on a lift.(unless not using teh engine management system is an issue)

Item #3 unless you're not happy with the performance/sound the current exhaust provides.

Is it the stock unit or an Ansa Sport?

Do you like the current sound?

I think its an ANSA Sport. Its very old though. There is no Muffler at all.

Headers to a very small can, then Dual tips out. (way out actually.I may have them trimmed up alittle at a muffler shop.)

The sound is freakin Awsome. Sounds like an Indy car almost now that its tuned right with timing and all.

Like the photo? This is an Ansa Sport.

If you like the sound, would stick with it a bit longer, as getting the exact sound you want can get expensive. If you feel that it may be collapsed inside or somehow be flow obstructive, then you have a lot of choices. Lots of threads on this.

Have fun and enjoy the car!

I think you are right = you have an older custom-fitted unit with Ansa tips. These do usually sound better. A good muffler/fab shop could fix that jewel right up like new without much expense. If the can is a one in/two out as it looks, it may be an adapted F-body (Camaro/Firebird) muffler and they do sound GREAT on a Ferrari V-8.
Would love to see a photo.

Is it even possible to get an ANSA sport any more?

Well, now we know what you have - no muffler at all.
That looks to be simply a small catalytic converter with pipes leading to resonated exhaust tips, one set of which do not actually do much.
I guess it is pretty loud. :)

Makes me wonder if Id get better flow and or performance with a true Dual in dual out or at least dual outs ;) . I could have one fabbed up pretty easy.
