348 saving weight in the clutch.

I don't know how much weight you will save. I recently replaced my flywheel, clutch on a sinlge plate clutch. $4000 USD in parts alone. I searched and talked to several speed shops in the US for cheaper and lighter set up. Really no option other than stock for the 348. Unless I wanted to go custom, then looking at $6000 USD for the flywheel alone.

My car is a '94 challenge car and had the racing metalic clutch in it. It was later driven on the street with the metalic clutch and really wore out the flywheel. I only have 16,000 miles on the car. Unless you are doing alot of track time I would stick with the stock clutch.

 

I have a titlon 7.25" triple disc carbon-carbon in mmy QV. It's VERY light, holds up to the hp my supercharged engine puts up and requires very little pedal presure to operate. I would recommend it.

 

you can drop 6-8 lbs on a stock twin disc have no grease issues for the cost of welding, lots of tools to cut the spider out of the flywheel housing, and balancing. Been there dont that 5+ years raced on same organic clutch plate. Fancy surfaces just are not needed. My secret is to cool the clutch plate surfaces by ducting the bell house. Everything is there for you and a homemechanic thinker can figure it out. Sinclge plate IMO is no upgrade although Ferrari will say it is. REality is more like Ferrair could not get mechanics to properly put the twins in so they got lots of come backs. I'm racing proof that not only do twins work but you can lighten them too. In fact mine works so well I have never even removed it to make version two for even more weight reduction. Stock pressure plate, stock organic discs, stock flywheel, modified flyeheel housing , modified air intake on bell house.

 

Ya know what chubba? I still have the skeleton of my old flywheel. I have been threatening to do the lightened flywheel with my old one, so let's do it. We'll have to get the stooges together and discuss Ver.2.
