I believe you just need MYR250k in the bank account and you qualify for Malaysia My second home status.

U will then be able to purchase/import car of your choice tax free. However, should you decide to sell the car later, the next owner must pay the tax at a pro rated rate.

Jon, for a scheme like that.. might as well buy an Enzo instead of a Diablo.

sounds like an incredibly roundabout way to get to own a car jon! on a separate note, has anyone been to thruxton before? it's one of those places where you can drive a selection of cars for a day with some tuition thrown in. be interested to hear your experiences, if any, thanks.

Me no money for Enzo but that's an interesting idea, why buy a Diablo when you can shop for the most exotic sports car out there......ZondaF?

Maybe can share the tax-free "status" with some rich MY Fchatters :D F-40 Isk? :D

But seriously the idea is strong & that can be used as a KL-SG transport then reach the JB home to change for a weekend plate QQ for Singapore ;)

Oh that reminds me Lung, the Jap lunch still ON but I may buy you on this....(fingers crossed)

    Jon,
NAZA can arrange for ANY car sans tax ( in fact most of the exotics in the showroom are not tax paid yet)....problem is you have to pay cash because the deal is you can BRING in any car sans tax.

MYR250k yes, but you've to provide proof that you're not a fly by nighter...

    "No" is technically correct.
However you can appeal to the LTA to allow a Singaporean to drive in w a Malaysia plate. I think its a 14 or 21 day allowance. But there is alot of paperwork i.e. work permit, etc. Still have to pay the $20/day charge if its a weekday. Weekends are free.

Anyone in Singapore know this car? Was registered in Brunei with plates BB4. Chassis # F 106 AB 19481. Engine #'s 00245 F 106A 021 DGM 15346OM. Vetroresina (fibreglass). This car was sold in Singapore we think in December 2006. We are just trying to trace the history of this car. It was originally painted blue (Azurro Hyperion), but is now painted red (fairly recently).

Where's it? Perhaps you can give the local agent a call, they should have some records if you ask nicely.

hi jon, when u mention morning drive, are u talking about a neighbourhood drive in sgp or one that goes up as far as the msian toll both at the 2nd link in johor? I have been zoomed past by a 430 and G previously along this stretch of road. I was doing 140kph but these guys were doing at least 200. Would be nice to stretch the car once in a while....

I wouldn't mind a simple/fast Malaysian trip. We can easily do 250 there with light traffic, what were you driving there @ 140? I take my 2.0 Alfa156 up to 170 max & cruise @ 140. I've also done KL-Sing @ 100 constant in my TR because of tyre issue which was quite a pleasing & relaxing trip.

I would say an early morning trip would be nice so we can do our "duties" later. Meet @ 7am either 2nd link 1st petrol station or ES. Do a quick trip to AirHitam & back without breakfast, all within an hour. Early because the traffic is light, cooler air & no cops.

Or one of those social breakfast in Singapore & a slow cruise around town.

I heard Porsche group has a Sunday morning breakfast drive to Malaysia which I may join :)
