I've got a great 1987 328 GTS that's in super shape generally. My issue is the the dash lights are fairly dim. I'm looking for input on how to increase the brightness without ripping the dash apart, etc. Is this due to bulbs? or electrical weakness of current? etc. Let me if you have experienced this issue. Thanks,
    Dolce1

I have an 1989 328 GST in perfect condition and have the same problem. Very dim dash lights on brightest setting, Its my gues that its the same on all 328's. I would like mine brighter, but dont know how to get to the dash light to try anything. So you are not alone.Tony in Australia.

308's have the same problem , that's why you need to do the dash light upgrade to slightly higher wattage lamps and some find added improvement by bypassing the dimmer control. Enjoy, it's really a fun little project. It was one of the first things I fixed, when I got my 380qv.
Remove the steering wheel, cover the steering column to protect the paint and proceed carefully.

Just the other day I got a new battery cable (Negative side) but before I installed it I made sure the ground are sanded clean and I also added a star washer for better ground contact, I then bolted the new cable and wow what a different, the light on my dash is alot brighter but not as bright as I want it to be but good enough and my window seems to work a little faster than before. So my sugestion is clean all your grounds making sure they are clean and tight, you'll be surprise on how much different it will make.

There's lots of threads on the dashboard light upgrade.
It's pretty easy to do. I did mine.
My Speedo is nice & bright, but the rest of the gauges are not significantly different.

Take a look at the link I posted above. It gives step by step instructions on how to brighten the lights in the dash.

Mine's a 1989 328 and yea it's a little dim but I don't think it's something worth a change. I'd rather devote my time to other more cosmetic and mechanical problems. I'd admit, though, that I don't do too much night driving although I did change out my headlamps. More important to me to see what's ahead than the dash lighting. Lot's of post on upgrading this though. Good luck

    Jeff
