Going to be in Las Vegas for a conference April 15 - 18. Looking for suggestions as to a nice place to eat one night. I know there are the big name restaurants like Spago's and Emeril's, but I would appreciate any inside knowledge of good restaurants that might not show up on the normal "Google" search.

We had dinner at Stack in the Mirage a few weeks ago. I have to say that the entire meal, for our party of six with six different entrees, was absolutely splendid.

The chef is a young rising star and he has some fun stuff on the menu like mini pigs in blankets to whet your appetite - stunning pastry and mini Chicago wieners, to an incredible hot rock thin sirloin starter cooked at the table.
The entrees were all wonderful and the desserts were mind bogglingly good. I recommend it highly!

I stayed at the Wynn last year and we ate at their main restaurant, Alex, and it was outstanding. However, it is not pocketbook friendly whatsoever.

Here are some recommendations based on dining there:

When I need to have a guaranteed great night or have guests in town:

Steakhouse- Delominco's @ The Venetian. Their bone-in rib is the best steak ever. 1st rate winelist. SW @ The Wynn would be my second choice. One of their managers Bradley Brown is from Delmonico's. SW's bar is a happening place.

Italian- Circo @ Bellagio. Great view of the fountains. Cool decor and the food is geared more towards traditional italian (not Americanized Italian, not that there is anything wrong with that).

Seafood- Michael Mina @ Bellagio. Formerly Aqua. Most classic items still on the menu. Their Tuna Tartare is the gold standard. If you are by yourself the bar is a great place to eat.

French- Alex @ Wynn, Le Cirque @ Bellagio, Fleur de Lys @ Mandalay Bay are all over the top. Alex and Le Cirqure require jackets.

Others- Postrio @ Venetian (Wolfgand Puck), Spagos @ Caesars (not the cafe, dine the dining room), Bartolotta (Italian Seafood) @ Wynn, Wing Lei (Catonese, Szechwan), Corsa (Italian Casual) @ Wynn, Emerils @ MGM Grand, Bouchon (French Brasserie) @ Venetian, Nob Hill (Continental) @ MGM Grand, Bradley Ogden @ Caesars.

Restaurants I have not been to that I am planning on- Valentino's @ Venetian, Restaurant Guy Savoy @ Caesars, Rao's @ Caesars.

Restaurants I don't have any intentions on going to or back to- Aureole, Prime, Picasso.

Maybe too much, maybe to little, hope this helps!

Great information guys, thanks. Sounds like it is going to be EXTREMELY difficult to pick only one or two of them.

My co-worker is a very finicky eater so she will have the final say on where we go. I'll get some of the menu information and pass it on to her.

When I was in Vegas, I ate mostly at the pizza joint or the Subway located just inside the door of the Circus-Circus. The pizza was decent!

    Hope this helps :p

This didn't occur to me before (to be honest, I didn't notice your dates), but since you're going to be here already, why don't you consider extending your stay and going to ExotiCorso, which begins April 19.

I had a very nice lunch today at Cili, the restaurant at the Bali Hai Golf Club. It's right there on the strip and a nice break from the casino restaurants. I shot 88 there today from the golds after actually waking up in time for a 7am tee-time. :)

You going to be there for NAB also? My favorite restaurant in Vegas is L'atelier de Joel Robuchon at the MGM. Robuchon is one of the best chefs in the world!

That's interesting on L'atelier. My wife and I went there one evening and essentially had a underwheming meal especially for the $350 (3 courses each with wine pairing).

Now I will say this we went to Joel Robuchon at the Mansion for our wedding anniversary and that was in our top 3 meals of all time. It was a 16-course meal and every course was more imaginative and wonderful the prior. The service was attentive and the room is georgeous. We also met chef Robuchon, who just happened to be in town, and received a cookbook. All for the equivalent price of a decent mortgage payment. :).

I ate at L'atelier two times a couple of weeks ago. The 1st night was AMAZING, but then again there Executive Chef was there. the second night wasn't as good as the 1st, but still was an excellent meal. It also depends completely on what you order there as well. I've eaten at L'atelier in London too. right on par with the other restaurants. I do completely agree though that his restaurant is better than L'Atelier. I've eaten at Robuchon's restaurant in Monte Carlo, which was by far the best meal I've had. (it definitely helped that he was in the kitchen). Just my $.02. I'll be checking out some of the recommendations in this thread while I'm there in April.

Our favourite 2 places in Vegas are "Le Cirque" @ Bellagio (for the finer dining)

or "Bouchons" @ the Venetian (for more casual/bistro style dining)

We have never been disappointed by these two places, and have enjoyed many meals at each over the last few years.

    Have a good trip!

Wish I could, but I must be back in the office on the 19th. I have to have payroll ready before Friday morning, and for some reason I've seen the employees hanging around the oak tree outside my office with a rope in-hand when they think I'm getting a little behind. I'd better not push my luck.

For inside knowledge, let me suggest (as may others have) Bouchon. It's not where you would expect to find a great restaurant, and for that reason, it has a certain "hidden quality" feel.

It's where I'm eating tomorrow - for breakfast!

Just came back from Vegas (wedding), ate for the second time at Mimmo Ferraro's (off-strip, on Flamingo). Very nice, good atmosphere, nice music (subtle jazz), very good food (osso buco).

Mike328, you beat to it. I was going to recommend Ferraro's for great Italian. It is off the strip, about a mile or so West of the Rio on Flamingo. Best Osso Buco I have had anywhere. It is where I take my out of town guests, and everyone always wants to go back.

Carl - Good to see your name! Hope you come to some club events!

Regarding Ferraro's, I remember when they were just a pizza stand (takeout mostly, maybe 3 tables) in a strip mall in my neighborhood. They expanded that over the next few years by adding storefronts into a full scale restaurant; then finally moved to their own building on Flamingo, as you say.

They also had a place in the Stratosphere for a while, but I'm pretty sure that closed.

I just came back from Vegas last weekend and my wife and I ate at Fusia in Luxor, it was awesome! I has the seared Ahi, it was great! Lombardi's in Aladdin used to be so good, but the last 2 times I have been there it has gotten worse (food and service) so dont go there. I will be there again this weekend for the Grand Prix!!!
