    yeah but permits/licencing issues are somewhat of a greyer (if thats a word) area...and theres room for 'negotiation' there

    if you get busted for say ride height, and cop decides you are blowing smoke and sends you to the macleod testing station for a full emissions test....not much you can do!

    not MUCH you can do, however...

    mate of mine got pulled over and issued the dreaded "report to macleod" order, but got out of it.

    theres some loophole that says if you live further than 'x' distance from the test station, its unreasonable to expect you to go.

    he has a holiday house in portsea....quoted that as his residence, case dropped...not sure if thatd work still though...

    There used to be a good loop hole in NSW about 7-8 years ago. If you scored a defect, simply change the plates and the defect would magically disappear...I came across this by chance but later found out that it was known to some people.

    Seems like a pretty simple thing to trace to me, but I was defected whilst in the process of selling a car so was about to change my plates anyway to standard issue. Did all that then enquired with the RTA saying I was looking at buying a car that was modified and that I wanted to make sure that it was clear of any defect notices, etc as I didn't want to be liable. Came back clear and never heard anything more about it.

    Those were the good old days....

    good old days ,had a lot of fun with a Vic licence and a NSW licence for years.Only got a bit tricky when the question was asked about a VIC rego.Will have to lift E-type up asshe is under ride height,bloody sump and diff housing and exhaust.Oh well easy job,front is torsion bars and rear should be ok with 225 tyres.

    No, Rob, I think you meant to say... "under load V8 supercars runs rich, a bit like a Boxer"

    There is nothing super about a V8 "supercar". Real supercars have more camshafts than doors.

    Traffic Cops. I know they have a job to do, like pulling modded Skylines with mobile discos on board and stopping idiots doin g 100kph past a school but please leave most of us alone!
    Almost everytime I go out I get flashed by a cop car comin towards me, waved to slow down and I AM doing the limit! Its only 50 round here for a coupls of ks then to 60 for another 5 ks before the Motorway (I think whoever called this road a motorway was on crack, State Highway 1 or Northern Motorway its called, more like a poorly designed dual carriage way, heard it was designed by a Yank so that answers gthat then!) and then we can do a whole 100kph! (and still get flashed 50% of the time :mad:

    THATS right.

    As for TMU....they do have discretion, but the frustrating thing for us is that inevitably they are merely operating within their powers.

    The annoyance comes from issues such as tony/the SRi which involve ppl thinking they are doing the right thing and copping it anyway.

    i was once pulled over on P's in mums then-new 200sx nissan out for a drive with dad. cop spent half an hour trying to convince me it was illegal on P's (it isnt).

    ..when he had no luck, he called in another unit from the station with a large power-weight book who eventually decided that because it was a spec s (not a spec r) it was ok.

    now, the difference between S and R is sunroof and CD stacker.....morons.

    I have a house interstate. All my cars are registered there, as they are in Vic less than 3 months at a time (that's for the cops reading this) :)

    one thing always bugs me about these cars ... the camber on the wheels ... the front wheels look to be straight up and down but the rears have LOTS of -ve camber and it makes the car look "unbalanced" from three-quarter view :confused:

    btw , went up to the Sunshine Coast to get my Qv today , got a few clicks down the road and took it straight back to Marc, the rubber hoses connecting the aluminium pipes from the back of the car to the radiator at the front burst !!

    If you're prepared to listen, I can explain some of what you see...

    355 suffer from exaggerated camber changes through suspension travel...(and this problem worsens the lower you have the ride height). On bumps, the camber gain is too much... and on droop, they lose too much camber... the net effect of this is that under acceleration, you get lots of camber on the back due to squat (traction could be greatly improved if you control/reduce this), and the overly squat biased suspension also makes the front lift... into droop.. which takes camber off...

    So... often, you'll see a 355 while accelerating or riding a bump, or heavy with passengers/fuel etc... that has quite different cambers to what is read while static...... ie during a wheel alignment.

    Camber gain is a good thing in the right doses though.

    But Moderetti, you are right.. std road 355 especially, DO have lots of -ve rear and next to no +ve front camber.

    no... there is NOTHING any Ferrari has in common with any Holden...

    (except the igntion module on Hall effect single dizzy carb 308's)
