6 speed vs egear residual value?

anyone have any data on whether the 6 speek or egear has better residual value? of course, the egear is $10k or so more expensive on a new car, but i've heard some people say that since the manuals are more rare and thus either worth as much or maybe more than egear models.

 

E Gear always better I would think....

 

On the G cars it is about 82% E-GEAR PRODUCED.


I myself like the 6 speed as all my cars are 6 speed...I find in selling mine that if someone wants a 6 speed they are hard to find and so yes they sell for more, not as much as e-gear, BUT not 10K under....

I think the 6 speed holds its main first value more...

 

Everytime someone looks in the car and sees that it is a 6 speed, they seem to marvel --- as if it's a rare commodity, which I suppose it's getting to be. I think that's why they will hold their value (i.e. As Roy states, there are a lot less of them out there).

E-Gear is more fun. If you are really worrying about the resale value, you are not going to enjoy your car because chances are, you are paying a lot of attention to a lot of other things that would hurt the car's resale value. Buy what you like, forget about the re sale value. There is always customers for lamborghinies, E-GEAR or Manual

I'll pay more for a 6-speed, but that's just me. I enjoy shifting the old fashioned way, I have no interest in an e-gear at all... As stated above, buy what YOU want, drive it and ENJOY it - forget resale value.

sweet. thanks for the replies everyone. i'm on the list for the superlegerra and they are telling me that egear has better resale value, which i wondered about. now, carbon brakes or steel? hmmm...

 

Carbon for sure. And don't worry which will give the better resale - either way you are going to burn a pile of dough so just buy what you like and enjoy it.

 

I was a 6spd fanatic - dont knock egear till you try it!

 

I have driven an e-gear, didn't like it at all... I prefer the 6-speed... To each his own, that's why I tell everyone to drive both and buy what they like best.

 

I would only buy the six speed. Problem is all of these paddle shift systems are going to be obsolete in a few years. Look at the Ferrari F355 - now it's pretty widely acknowledged that the new Ferraris (360/F430) have superior F1-style gearboxes.
